Can anybody identify this cat breed?

we just took on this little lady, who is allegedly some sort of pedigree cat, about 2 1/2 years old.

I think she is a pretty, little domestic short-hair and am quite happy if she is entirely "non-pedigree".

She is quite petite, talks a lot, and has the cute habit of standing up on her back legs like a meerkat!

All thoughts gratefully received!

Update:

thanks folks - all nice helpful answers and not a troll in sight (not sure about the shirt hair LOL) - anybody know if the "talking" and "meerkat pose" point to any particula crossbreed mix? I am used to siamese cats, and she sounds nothing like them - just soft high pitched calls, which I can barely copy!

she is in good health, has been well cared for and had all her jabs - just the matter of a trip to the vet for a "lady's operation" - hopefully she will put on a little more weight after that! she has lived indoors up till now, so I will take it very gently, introducing her (and her male companion, a handsome Brit Short Hair black point who is currently hiding INSIDE our sofa) to the joys of an english country garden.

Her name is Della, and the big butch (cowardy custard) guy is Dempsey.

Update 2:

as a way of "paying back" all you kind folk for your contributions, here is a link which I hope you will enjoy - http://www.poolekites.freeserve.co.uk/cats/cats.ht...

Update 3:

Oh boy - having dismantled the bottom cover on the sofa, it turned out to be empty! thought to check the reclining armchair - there he was - sitting pretty and looking VERY smug!

She isn't any breed. She's a "domestic" - a cat of no particular breed just like over 97% of the cats on this entire planet. Colour/pattern is Brown Classic Torbie and White.

Hard to see if that really is a British Shorthair under the recliner. If so it's Silver Mackerel Tabby. There's no such thing as "Black Point". Could also be Black Silver Shaded if it's a Brit.

Be VERY wary of that recliner. You could easily injure or even kill a cat in the mechanisms.

OOHHHH very nice little lady. She's a brown classic domestic shorthair. But her coloring is unusual; I suspect some kind of chocolate in the background. There are not many chocolate breeds but the one that comes to mind is a chocolate classic Ocicat.

To Jun below: there IS a purebred cat called American Shorthair - look it up. The common cats are properly called domestic short/long hairs. That's an insult to anyone owning a purebred American SH (and I show cats - I know they are purebreds).

I think you are right, she is a pretty little torbie and white DSH. And she sounds like she's a special cat no matter whether anyone kept track of her ancestry.

Don't think she's a purebred, but would be considered a Domestic Short Hair ( DSH )......

She is a BEAUTIFUL kitty..........and looks very friendly.

Keep her and ENJOY her..........Have you given her a name, yet?

Be sure to take her for a checkup ASAP......make sure she's as healthy as she looks, and isn't harboring any fleas, etc......or unborn kittens!!

    Good luck........

She looks like an american shorthair. They're fairly common, and not really considered 'pedigree' anymore because they are common. My recently-obtained cat has a parent/grandparent who was american shorthair; we can see slightly darker tabby-rings in her color on her tail, and she has a petite build, and is talkative too. :3 Enjoy your new kitty!

I'm not an expert, but she looks like a tortoise shell- but that's just a color pattern, not a breed. She looks and sounds delightful! Enjoy her!

Could just be a shirt haired tortie.
