You might be interested to know that the Buddha declined to discuss questions about the existence or non-existence of god(s).
He observed frequently that he was only interested in the cause and cessation of human suffering, and he viewed questions about god(s) as irrelevant to that issue.
Further, the Buddha taught that when we think "this exists" or "this does not exist," we bifurcate the world and thus set up the conditions for more suffering.
In short, the Buddha encouraged his followers to adopt the position of non-certainty when it came to metaphysical questions such as the existence of god(s). For this reason, many Buddhists might best be described as agnostics.
Of course, many modern Buddhists ignore the Buddha's teachings and adopt an atheistic position. And many more ignore the Buddha and adopt a belief in God or some other kind of deity.
But, for those Buddhists who wish to follow the Buddha's teachings and put an end to human suffering, neither theism nor atheism are very helpful.

Buddhists believe in many gods and goddesses, called 'devas' and also in heaven. However, they are not important to attaining Enlightenment and Buddhists do not worship them, because, like humans and animals, they are still mired in the cycle of reincarnation. Buddhism explicitly rejects the subject of a Creator God such as found in the Abrahamic monotheistic religions.
It is probably most accurate to describe Buddhism as 'non-theistic' rather than 'atheistic', although the overwhelming majority of Buddhists themselves are atheists.

Buddhists don't care what religion you are. Because technically I don't think Buddhism actually passes the test of the 3 things that make up a religion. I know that one of them is conversion. Buddhists don't convert.
It's not a religion. So you can be Christian and Buddhist. The point of Buddhism is to achieve enlightenment. You can do that with or without God.

Not all of them.
And yes, some Buddhists do convert. Some pray and believe in a God. Some even consider Buddha a God, though he said not to. Pure Land sect is very much like an Abrahamic religion in many concepts, with Pure Land being pretty close to an idea such as Heaven. Buddhism can be a philosophy or a religion - it is up to the individual how he or she defines it.

Everything with your question is wrong. Who cares? They are wrong but at least they are peaceful; kinda. Are there any buddhist countries that are like hanging people and stuff? You know what never mind. Also I think you meant to ask: How can I stop fearing death without the need to believe in a God that clearly isn't there or just doesn't care?

Buddhism encompasses many differing beliefs and some of the beliefs might be thought of as atheistic

"We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in.
Some of us just go one god further."
