Jehovah's Witnesses: Why do we give thanks, glory, and honor to Jehovah if Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior?

NWT

(Revelation 4:11) “You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.”

(John 14:6) Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

(John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.

(Philippians 2:9-11) . . .For this very reason also God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every [other] name, 10 so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground, 11 and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

It is the Father, Jehovah, who thought up all this and arranged it.

Though the only way to get to the Father is through the son, no one can come to the son unless the Father draws him and anyone who has heard from the Father comes to Jesus. John 6:44, 46, 17:3, 2 Cor. 11:3. Jehovah God is head of Jesus not the other way around.

An honest reading of the bible, any bible, shows that it was Jehovah's purpose to provide a seed (Gen 3: 15) that would undo all that Satan, Adam, and Eve started. Throughout the Hebrew Scriptures Jehovah has indicated his purpose to ransom mankind. This was accomplished by means of Jesus, as well explained by some of my brothers and sisters.

Everything we have, we have through Jesus. But it originated with Jehovah. James 1:17 says that "every good gift and perfect present... comes down from the Father of the celestial lights". What more perfect present could have been given but access to Jehovah God by way of Jesus Christ? Who else but Jehovah could have provided such a good gift?

THIS, and many other reasons are why Witnesses give thanks, glory, and honor to the one to whom it rightfully goes, Jehovah God.

Simply put; Jehovah is the ALMIGHTY GOD, his Son is Jesus Christ who is a god, can be considered "Mighty" and other adjectives. BUT, there is a separation between the two.

The "ultimate" glory and honor goes to the Father. However, we have deep respect for his Son who came to earth to "explain" him as brought out in John 1:18

Col 1:15 explains that Christ is firstborn of all creation. This means he had a Heavenly existence with his Father going back eons. We do not even know how long ago. However, with Jehovah the Father, he has "no beginning and no end."

Is that hard to understand, yes it is because we are mere humans not knowing all of His ways. This is why we continually pray for holy spirit to guide us.

    Because

    1. Jehovah is CHRIST'S creator, God and saviour.

    2. Because Christ taught us to by word and deed.

    3. Matthew 22:

"34 After the Pharisees heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they came together in one group. 35 And one of them, versed in the Law, asked, testing him: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 The second, like it, is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.”

41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together Jesus asked them: 42 “What do YOU think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him: “David’s.” 43 He said to them: “How, then, is it that David by inspiration calls him ‘Lord,’ saying, 44 ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies beneath your feet”’? 45 If, therefore, David calls him ‘Lord,’ how is he his son?” 46 And nobody was able to say a word in reply to him, nor did anyone dare from that day on to question him any further. • I think all the verses quoted give a true Biblical answer to the question. Jehovah is the Source of all creation. Jesus is the way, not to himself, but to the Father. Our goal is not to stop with Jesus, but to be led, by Jesus, to the Father, Jehovah.

Jesus is the one who said that the Father is "the only true God." Enough said.

And the verse in Philippians shows that God is the one who exalted Jesus and GAVE him the authority he has, and that praise to Jesus is not for Jesus' glory, but for the glory of the One who exalted Jesus, the one who sent Jesus for our salvation. (John 3:16)

The name "Jesus," in Hebrew, means "Jehovah is Salvation." The very name "Jesus" points to Jehovah as the one who provided the means for our salvation, by sending His Son.

Jesus is our Lord and Savior, not through his own will, but by God's will. (Matthew 26:39; Luke 22:42; John 5:30) Therefore, thanks, glory, and honor rightly go to Jehovah.

" and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father."

TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER.

That is how Jesus felt, how the early Christians felt, how the apostle Paul felt, and how we should feel as Christians today.

I like Judges 3:14-15: And the sons of Israel continued to serve Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years. And the sons of Israel began to call to Jehovah for aid. So Jehovah raised up for them a savior, Ehud, the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a left handed man. In time the sons of Israel sent tribute by his hand to Eglon the King of Moab.

It was Jehovah that raised up Ehud for his people. Jesus is our savior from sin and death.

Deuteronomy 18:15 (speaking about Jesus Christ) A prophet from your own midst, from your brothers, like me, is what Jehovah your God will raise up for you-to him you people will listen.

The only way to know this is to take in Knowledge of Jehovah and his son Jesus.

Jesus wouldn't be our Lord and Savior in the first place if it wasn't for Jehovah. It was Jehovah's will and purpose that allowed Jesus to have that position. Jesus was willing to do what his father said. stayed faithful even to his death and thus became our Lord and Saviour.

Jesus himself even acknowledge that when he said at John 17:7,8 "They have now come to know that all the things you gave me are from you...and have certainly come to know that I came out as your representative."

Because Jesus is the son of God.

Psalms 83:18 states that Jehovah is the most high over all the earth.

Jesus died as the sacrifice for humankind, but he does not get exclusive devotion...Jehovah does.

Simple, because Jesus did and we want to emulate Jesus. Jesus worshiped and prayed to Jehovah and so should we.
