Do you think I can get away with sneaking a cat into my apartment?
I have lived in my apartment going on 2 years now. It's not really an apartment more like a Duplex.. Two apartments made out of an old house on a small lot. Anyways, my landlord doesn't allow pets. Preferably dogs and cats. The past tenants have had animals before but had made a real mess of the place and she doesn't want to go thru all that again. i have had a pet bird there once and nothing was evr said about it but now i want a cat. Really bad... i've always had a pet. My next door neighbor has 2 outside dogs which the landlord knows about but my neighbor has snuck in a kitten that she has had for about 5 months now and now has snuck in another one. My lanlord lives beside us in her own house on her own lot. She is an elderly lady and has never came to my house since i have lived there the past 2 years. She has a son that helps her out some but he never comes over unless something is wrong and we call him over and that has been only 2 times. once when we were having plumbing problems and another when he replaced a stove. Other than that they never come over! Since my apartment use to be an old house i have all the windows covered up with plastic to help in insulating druing cold and hot saesons. So my cat would not be visible from the outside. i have been thinking about this for sometime. I have aksed my landlady and she has told me no but her and her son never come over and would'nt find out. and i have been thinking that if they do i can just say I am cat sitting for a friend that is moving.

Yes you can but remember then you can no longer have maintenance come in to fix anything, if your called for an inspection you will have to do an emergency boarding facility and if the people actually dont inspect that day be prepared to continue to board until they do. (around 25$ a night)
Also be sure to have the pet deposit ready in case you get caught because "getting rid of the cat" because you got caught is very unfair. But if you pay the deposit because cats are allowed then you should be fine.
An no - sitting a cat for a friend still requires you to notify them, read your lease.

How would you feel if you were able to sneak the cat in for 6 months or so and then was found out? Would you want to give it away after all of that time, or be forced to move because of it? Think long-term in this matter. You may be able to get away with it for awhile, but somewhere down the road you may be found out.

No, don't do it. She sounds like a good landlady so don't take advantage of her. Besides, it is not fair to the cat. If she did find out and you had to give the cat away, the cat would be the one to suffer.

you could but if you need anything fixed you will have to hide every thing for the cat not just the cat and if the cat is nosy you could be in trouble and if you get caught you could be evicted or even asked to pay for things like damages or loss a security deposit

You can and will be evicted if they find it. Don't try.
offer instead to pay an extra security deposit if they'll let you have a cat. Some landlords are ok with that.

Hmm....doesn't sound that good to me....I mean, if she kept saying no to you and then she finds out you dissobeyed her.....you could be sued!!!! But, maybe not, considering others have done this.................maybe you should move to a different place so you can do whatever you want and have as many cats as you want..........!!!
