Do you know that Obama has deported a record number of illegals?

It is popular among Republicans and Tea Party types to say Obama is 'soft' on illegals, but that simply has not been the case:
"...The United States deported a record 392,000 illegal immigrants over the past year, nearly half of them people with criminal convictions, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday.
The number deported during the 2010 fiscal year ending September 30 surpassed the record of 389,000 deportations set the previous year..."
In addition, his Administration has leveled a record amount in fines against businesses that hire illegals and deported a many more criminals than the Bush Administration:
"...Immigration agents have audited 3,200 employers suspected of hiring illegal immigrants, debarred 225 companies and individuals, and levied 50 million dollars in penalties -- more than during the entire Bush administration, ICE said.
Deportations of convicted criminals were up 70 percent in 2010 compared to 2008, the final year of the Bush administration, the agency said...."
Border security:
He has put more border patrol agents on the job and sent National Guard troops to the border. Bush did neither thing.

What President or party wants to pick up that hot potato? Think of the expense of rounding them up and shoving 'em onto buses. You can just see the teabaggers and Repugnicons crying out that it's too expensive, or too high-handed, or unfair, or (ha ha) UNCONSTITUTIONAL to round 'em up.
The Bushies had YEARS to clean it up, but did nothing.
The economic impact would be very large - (most of them pay taxes and SS) as well as sales taxes, buy clothes, food, etc. All the millions of jobs that have disappeared in the last 2 years have had a huge impact; it's a big part of the reason why the economy has been so slow to recover.
An immigrant roundup right now would be devastating.
Any idiot should be able to see that - unless they're a Republican. It's nothing more than a straw-man to hammer Obama with during the campaign - it's guaranteed to disappear as soon as the new Congress is sworn in. This next two years could spell the end of the Republican Party as we know it, when they're unable to solve the very problems that they made election issues.
The Dems can only gain when they remind voters of GOP BS issues come 2012.

Yes...Obama has been making the businesses check all their employees to make sure they are legal. And yes, Obama has sent more troops and assistance to the borders, but he will never get credit for ANYTHING he does. He is a Democrat. The whine of the tea party and the republicans overshadow everything...

There are still over 10 million illegal aliens in the United States and 500.000 more enter each year.
0bama is doing nothing about that.

A lot of U.S. citizens critize inmigrants who try to enter ilegally their country from Mexico, but I am sure these "honorable" citizens would do the same if they were born in Guatemala or Costa Rica and had nothing to eat.

Finally, at least O'Reilly finally brought it up last night. No other Fox News report had the decency to even mention it before O'Reilly.
