I have been a nurse for nearly 40 years. have had psoriasis 15. now have it on the soles of my feet.?

My feet have deep cracks in them, and they are so sore it is very painful to walk. I work 12 hour shifts and am on my feet about 8 hours of the 12. Feet and legs have pitting edema and I get reoccuring cellulitis in my legs. Can I file for disability?

You can certainly FILE for disability, but it'll be up to the board to determine whether you QUALIFY. However, you do qualify to begin using one of the newer biologic agents that would get your psoriasis cleared up. Most of them use the ten percent body-surface area as the standard for consideration; however, bad psoriasis of the hands and/or feet also qualifies. Talk to your dermatologist about the possibility of starting on Stelara or some other biologic, if you've not done so already.

I'm currently a student and I felt like I had a late start at 28, but most of the students going out for nursing are your age or older! At my school, there is a woman who is 65 in the nursing program! It's never too late to learn something new.
