I have had to have 2 d&c after m/c what are the chances for a 3rd.....?
First off I have a perfectly healthy 4 year old little boy but we were excited to get the news we were pregnant. Unfortunately that pregnancy didn't make it past 7 weeks 5 days. I was debating on miscarrying naturally or having a d&c done. Since my husband had upcoming ACL reconstruction we opted for the d&c to get it "done and over with" I had the d&c and was told everything was "cleaned out" and we were okay to take all the normal precautions for 2 weeks. Well a week out of my surgery and a week before his I started running a fever and passing huge clots. Called my doctor they called in an antibiotic and told me to stay off my feet which I was as much as possible having a husband with a torn ACL and a 4 year old. Well anyway went to my husband's surgery his went great and seems to be on the road to recovery so I found someone to come sit with him while I took myself to get checked out the following day and I had to make the doctor do another u/s to make sure "everything" was removed and do a blood count. The doctor called me back Thursday and said you need to get in here first thing in the morning you have an infection in your uterus and we didn't get it all out we need to re-do the d&c. So I went back into the hospital yesterday and repeated the procedure. I just want to know what the chances are to need a repeat d&c and will I possibly need a 3rd because I don't think I can go through this again! I feel like I can't move on emotionally until I am physically better. I was told the infection was pretty bad but they don't want to see me for 2 weeks post op, will this affect my future fertility? I just wanna be able to move on!
I had both d&c's for 1 pregnancy, not 2 separate losses. The first time they didn't get everything out and caused a bad infection in my uterus...I want to know what are the chances for needing a 3rd if they missed anything else!

i've also had 2 d&c's, and my doctor tells me there is no reason that i can't go on to have a 3rd healthy pregnancy and carry it full term.
good luck to you
