Why do American woman wear skimpy clothing?

Why do American woman wear skimpy clothing? Is it because they find it comfortable with the weather? Or is it to attract men and get their attention? But if that's the case, why do they feel that the way they dress and show skin is the only way to attract a man? Do they lack self esteem or is it something else? Or is it because they lack intellect and intelligence so they feel that skin show is the only way to grab a mans attention? I'm not really in touch with American culture so that's why I'm asking because in T.V. movies, and the couple times i've been to the U.S, the woman love showing skin. When they sit, they don't mind their thong sticking out. Is this just because they don't mind or is it to catch someones attention? I personally feel that this meand woman have no respect for themselves but maybe I'm wrong?

most American women are incredibly superficial. not all of them are like this, but the majority tend to use their looks alone as a means of attraction(because honestly, that's all they have to offer).

Due to the extent of your generalizing, I assume that you are a biased and hateful individual, possibly a troll - but I'll humor you anyways.

    No.

The answer is no. A few skimpily dressed Americans means nothing about the majority of women here. While it is true that revealing attire can aid in romantic endeavor and boost one's self confidence overall, it is impossible to say that this is the foremost reason behind one's dress (which is in itself influenced by many, many factors). However, I do believe it is safe to say that 'showing skin' as you describe (sexually or otherwise), is perhaps common enough in our culture to be a non-issue; what this means is that the custom doesn't have much effect unless seriously unusual or obscene. Americans are more comfortable and accepting of their bodies than people of many other cultures are. Your belittling perception of us is probably not deserved, at least not in this case.

Well, if you're getting most of your info from our horrible excuse of a media, it may not be as extreme as you think.

Some people do dress somewhat skimpy, though. It's just the way it is here. It's the trend- no secret motives for most people. I wear shorts and things like that because I like them, and I am comfortable in them. I don't go out of my way to look slutty, but I won't deny that there are some women who are that shallow.

its because american girls belong to a modern society where you didn't care about femininity .they think that woman's right should always be upload .like freedom to vote or freedom from discrimination lol.etc.so they think that they have the right to show some skin in this modern world not like on those old days where woman wear long dress to hide there legs or body.so they think being naked is free and most of all LIBERATED lol.

I think because they are not allowed to wear nothing at all. Skippy clothing is the next best thing.

American women's clothing isn't as skimpy as the women in El Salvador.

Hollyweird has taught them it's better and more important in life to LOOK good than actually BE good.
