Why do people who can sing, want to become "singers" if they already are singers?

Am I missing something? I mean why do some people who sing say they want to become a singer if they already can sing? Do they mean a professional singer? And if so, isn't being dubbed "professional" an opinion? Being as how some people will think person 1 is a prof. singer, while another will disagree and think person 2 is a prof. singer. I'm a singer myself, but I never say I want to become a singer, being as how I already am one...in other words, I can sing...case closed. Nothing more like money, fame, and such, and nothing less like me not being a headliner. But what do others mean when they say THEY want to be a singer? Please let me in on what I'm probably missing. It's just SO confusing that some people who CAN sing are just not satisfied enough with their ability to do so...even if they are already where they want to be at VOCALLY, and are also already living a good, wealthy, and/or comfortable lifestyle. I'd appreciate a philosophical outlook on this, so that's why I'm asking here. Thank you guys.

In the most modern of societies, most people are not satisfied of their skills and talents, until they become the best, the No. 1. They love challenges to be on TV, to perform on the grandest of stage, to produce tons of music albums and to become world's best. Who doesn't want to stand shoulders to shoulders with Madonna, Celine Dionne, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley,Luciano Pavarotti, etc to be published, become legends and to leave legacies?

Apart from music, one always strives to become the world's greatest or richest golfer, soccer player, or swimmer winning 8 gold medals at a single Olympic games. And even to strive and beat all previous records. You see, we are all living in a mad mad world of money, fame, glory, power, living-it-upness, etc which the crazy media helps to fan the flames. The only problem is whether one can take the pressures and temptations that come with fame and money -- because these may one day bring about one's quick downfall, too. Curiosity, greed and a sense of fun for adventure also motivate a person to aim for the 15th or the highest possible level in a skill, if he is presently only at the 8th or 10th level.

Sure, to have the greatest of talents, can be a blessing or a curse. Only the really sensible person may opt for moderation in his pursuits, to know when is enough;and not to push his luck and capabilities, but it is often a rare find of such an individual.

so everyone that has a go at karaoke is also a singer you reckon..? What about the tens of thousands that sing along to the national anthem before a sporting event, they must also be singers.

It's not technically incorrect to think this way, with that kind of optimistic thinking most people are potentially anything, although that's a bit unrealistic for my liking as:

Someone planting a few seeds in the backyard could be considered a farmer.

Anyone applying antiseptic on a wound or taking painkillers for a headache could be a doctor..

I know how to pour milk onto cereal, guess i'm now a qualified chef

....actually, these days you don't have to be a professional anyway, auto tune programs and other studio techniques will guarantee a lack of any real talent can be swiftly overcome if they think you are a marketable product that will make them money

Okay Mr. Redundancy, I think i heard your question the first 3 times.

People who can sing don't say "I want to be a singer" in the way that they want the capability of singing. I mean, frankly, anyone with a pair of vocal chords can belt out a tune, the object is whether that tune is, well, in tune.

When people say this, they mean they want to be professional singers. And when you mention the objectivity of being "professional", you're missing the point. "Professional", as in "profession". They want to make money: they want to be singers as a career choice.

While I'm sure you really just want to rant about "untrue" performers who don't love their art and are in it for the money, you could also think of it as: people who get paid for a talent must be fairly good at it. So they probably, in a sense, are searching for the acceptance that they are not just singers, but GOOD singers.

One of the most diverse muscles in our bodies is the tongue. This amazing tool not only helps you talk, but also helps you properly sing. When you sing, it is important that your tongue rest in specific areas as certain notes or scales are attempted. Learn here how to sing https://tr.im/UQhEW

The tip of the tongue is the easiest to control, but is not what is used the most in singing. When you sing, the tip of your tongue should be lightly pressed against the back of the lower teeth. This will ensure that it doesn't get in the way, or hinder the middle, sides, or back of the tongue when attempting certain notes. The back of the tongue, probably one of the hardest areas to control, should be the section that is relaxed. Once you get used to keeping the tip of your tongue lightly pressed against the back of your teeth, this should be easier to do. You can even put the tip a little lower if you feel it's in the way or becomes irritated. So, the back of the tongue should be relaxed, yet ready for use. You should be able to control it a little bit at this point. As you practice singing a little more, try to notice what the back and middle section of your tongue are doing. On lower tones or notes, the tongue will lie flat. On higher tones, the contrary. When it comes to lower tones, the tongue doesn't have as much work to do because the lower sound that is emitted originates in the chest cavity and is formed through the throat. With higher tones, however, the higher the tone, the more 'active' this back section of the tongue must be. Now that the tongue has been covered in some detail, it should be noted that singing is difficult on the muscles and surrounding cavities and ligaments. However, difficult does not mean painful. If in hopes of reaching a certain tone or trying to hold a sound, you thereby cause stress to your neck or throat muscles, you are not going to last long. Controlling these muscles, as steadily as possible, and working them to a certain point each day, without strain, is one of the most important factors when it comes to practicing and learning how to sing. Remember, you should never feel pain nor strain.

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/jaSVf

Your golden voice will be ringing out in no time!

    ha good q

really i think its cos we need to be known and appreciated FOR the talents we have, whateve rthey are

and because we know that to survive using your talents and abilites are the best bet for doing that

plus, its really frustrating to see those who CANT sing, and have no talent, end up with all the good stuff, when those who do have talent dont cos they dont fit the social mould and it leads peopel to want to change it, to become known for their talent as well

most peopel DONT get to live comfortably, even with a talent, cos its not socially recognised

being a great singer doesnt automatcially mean you are sucessful, it just means you are a grest singer, it doesnt in itself make life any better for you

plus, we revere people in the buisness called show, singers, actors, etc etc

its the social defenition of sucess, and who doesnt want sucess

    ;-)

yes this has always puzzled me too in the deep past you'd be gifted in music and entertain the people in your village or tribe or whatever and that would be it,you'd be known for that as the griot or whatever now in modern times they are all desperate for record contracts and 5 million sales and cd covers and production equipment etc.

  • I think that it has something to do with exhibiting the talent for a wide array of people and at the same time making a career out of it.

Consensus values infuse the social perception of talents/abilities/crafts with a false sense of hierarchy.
