Credit card usage for frequent flyer miles...?

A long time ago, there was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show. She claimed that she paid all of her major expenses via credit cards in order to rack up F.F.Miles. By major expenses she explained mortgage, car payment & daughter's college tuition. Then, she would pay off the credit card each month from her checking acct. That part I get. The part I don't get is how does one put a mortgage payment & a car payment on a credit card. I have great credit and little to no outstanding debt. I'd like to examine this principle for my mortgage & car payment...my two largest bills. Is it possible and how?

Before you start paying any regular bills with that credit card, check to make sure they accept credit card payments and process the transaction as a credit card charge. Since they would have to pay merchant fees, your mortgage and car lender may not take credit cards.

You may also find that some utilities only take credit cards as cash advance transactions. This means you get charged a cash advance fee of 3% to 5%, depending on your card terms, and the charge immediately accrues interest at the higher cash advance rate. You also don't get reward points for cash advances.

Personally, I don't like FF miles reward cards. By the time your rack up enough points, they change the system. Plus, it's often difficult book the flight you want when it's with FF miles. I prefer cash reward cards.

in case you charge lots (25K or greater consistent with 12 months) the honestly airline enjoying cards are each so often a solid deal because of the fact they provide you greater perks. in case you charge much less, i might propose Capital One card or a US financial employer card. the two fairly are in basic terms a million% rebate enjoying cards in marketed as mileage enjoying cards. The Capital One provide you greater factors in case you charge better than $a million,000 consistent with month. the U. S. financial employer provide you 10,000 factors for signing up (properly worth $a hundred, not undesirable). i for my area do not think of any mileage enjoying cards are very lots. yet they're greater helpful than getting not something on your purchases -- this is for specific.
