How do I get over a little bit of depression?

I've been feeling kind of depressed lately and was wondering the best way to get over it What do you do when you're low? And don't expect me to talk to somebody about it.

Helping other people with their problems helps me stop thinking about mine or helps me put mine into better perspective.

Music, exercise, or some laughter often helps. Watching shows that remind of the ridiculous comedic side of life helps. :)

Exercise, fresh air, light, good solid sleep as many hours before midnight as possible turning off all light sources including computer which is bad for stimulating serotonin which keeps you awake when what you need is darkness which allows for dopamine to do it's thing.

Talking to friends or family, even if not about your specific problems can at least remind you that their are people in your sphere of influence that matter to you and you to them....

about 5 years ago, I started to fall into a really depressive episode. At first I thought it was only because I had a bad break from a relationship but the feelings wouldn't go away even after I got a new girlfriend. It was wrecking my life until a point where it was seriously affecting my work and personal life.

She was very worried but at the same time couldn't understand why I was still sad and thought that I still couldn't let go of my previous relationship. Being the wonderful person that she is, she put aside her feelings and suggested I go for psychiatric evaluation. Many months later and even more anti-depressants, I was not coming close to being better at all.

After doing some research online, I found out the real cause as you described it really makes a lot of sense and purchased this program. The results were simply astonishing. I read this book over three times and put all words in action. Using this method, I've kept my depression at bay ever since. Up to date I'm still living happily with my girlfriend.

I know what you mean, the simple answer 'Talk to a professional' is really aggravating.

It's more than that...talk is cheap.

It's a lot more than that. Mentally, I find that trying to do things to avoid feeling depressed is worthless. Because yes, your mind will lose that thought for some time. But it catches up with you; believe me.

You have to think about what it is that is making you feel low lately, rather than forget about it. Really think about it...long and hard. It might make you feel uncomfortable for awhile but you need to break out of anything little comfort zone your mind has given you.

If you train yourself to do this, you can easily confront any anxiety that you have. It's no longer a fear in the back of your mind and there is no anxiety = no depression.

This creates a clearer atmosphere in the way you think and, and can make you more of an optimistic person. Yes, this sounds awkard and strange but if you understand what I mean, I can guarantee that this works.
