How many ounces should my week old baby be drinking?

My daughter is nine days old. I am pumping exclusively and don't feed her formula at all, just pumped breastmilk. She is drinking between 3-4 ounces at a time every 3 hours. Is this okay? It seems like a lot to me, as i am pretty sure my first born didn't drink that much at this age!

She was born weighing 7lb 2oz and is now 7lb 8oz....

Thanks!

    Wow 9 days, congratulations!

Your baby knows exactly how much she needs. There's no such thing as too much. Breatfeeding is amazing because your baby tells your body how much it needs and your body produces it.

Keep giving that little beauty as much as she wants. If you're producing and she seems satisfied and has good amount of wet diapers then all is well and you're very lucky.

If she is happy and not spitting up, she knows how much she needs. When you go for her month check up you will know if she is eating to much by the amount she has gained. My son was born at 7lb 11oz at his one month he was 10lbs. The doc didn't say anything and I have no idea how much he was eating but it was alot. I breastfed.

That does sound like alot for a week old baby..typically they eat 2oz at at time. but all babies are different. I know if you multiply weight by 2.5 that is the amount they should be eating..give or take.

when my son was a week old he was drinking 3 ounces every 3 hours. but your daughter knows how much she needs. it is a bit much but she knows what she wants and she will not eat if she is full. just feed on demand.

All in all, she should be drinking no more than 30 ounces a day.
