AR school board member encourages suicide among gay children - should he be recalled?

Arkansas school board member Clint McCance is willing to celebrate the suicides of gays and that he would disown his own kids if they were gay - is this appropriate behavior for a school board member?

Does his encouragement to suicide make him a more effective or less effective school board member? Is he setting an appropriate tone for what kids should grow up to be?

Also, why do you think the school board has taken contact information down from their web site?

Update:

@JustMe - This isn't a free speech issue. No one says he can't say such things. However, this is a school board member openly endorsing the suicide of *students*. It's not a free speech issue - it's a job performance issue.

I'm a Christian, however, I believe that homosexuality is between that person and God. No, I don't want it in my home and I'm pretty tired of seeing it on television "Glee". But just because I don't like it doesn't mean I think that these people should kill themselves.

For this man to say something like that, I hate to say it, but his days are numbered. As much as I do believe in the right to "Free Speech". This country has become the country of PC. Our freedom of speech isn't what it used to be. So his days are numbered.

It's very sad that we as a country have become so Politically Correct, that we have to be careful of what we say in fear of hurting someones feelings. Granted, there are some things you just don't say, but again, what about "Free Speech"?

Not a good stance to have as a board member. Too bad we can't fire a lot of teachers who do and say the same things. But we CAN'T. Why is that? (unions, tenure)

And these are the people who are teaching our children.

Thank goodness I don't have any.

Yep , thats over the top. Similar to asking people to support something they don't agree with.

    I heard that on Fox.

He should be fired immediately. How horrible!

He should be shot in the face for not supporting teens. Unless they are hurting other people, they are fine.

He should have just said children who don't hate America should be killed, then the entire Democrat caucus and 95% of the media would be lionizing him.

I would give him a medal. If he really said that (Homosexuals are huge liars), it took guts. It isn't often you find someone in education willing to speak their mind.
