will these side-effects ever go away or should i quit the medicine now?

i just started taking paxil and i'm having some side-effects (well, some of it could be unrelated, i'm not sure). the most annoying is that i can't have an orgasm. i'm also experiencing nervousness and worsening depression, but only right after i take it. i feel better after a few hours. can these side effects diminish over time or is paxil just wrong for me. and don't tell me to ask my doctor. i can't get hold of him untill monday.

Update:

i'm 27 yrs old

I am sorry that you are having side effects because of your medication. Paxil is one type of medication that is called and SSRI. I am not sure how old you are, but a lot of times SSRIs can cause worsening depression, especially if you are in your teens or early 20s. I would advise that you ride it out and keep taking the medication until monday when you can talk to your doctor about the worsening symptoms, unless you start having suicidal thoughts, then you should stop the medication and talk to an adult of some sort who you trust about that, perhaps tell your parents that you are feeling that way.

Depending on if you are taking a long release or short release version of Paxil that could make a difference in the side effects that you get, and how it effects you. One thing that I would say is that you should definitely talk to your doctor about the couple hours of worsening symptoms (i know you cannot talk to them until Monday, but you do need to make sure they know so you can get a new prescription), you should not have to live with the negative symptoms. It would also be important to tell your doctor about how you cannot have an orgasm, changing medication could help with that.

Again, I would suggest sticking it out with the meds until your appointment, unless you are getting suicidal thoughts.

You may want to call the pharmacist and at least ask if the side effects warrant immediate action. They say worsening depression means you should seek medical advise asap. Otherwise, come Monday call your dr to see about another med. Sometimes it takes trying a few different mess before finding the right one.
