Motherboard memory standard?

I am planning buying an XFX nForce 750i SLI mobo, and it's memory standard is DDR2 800.

I have in my possession DDR2 667. Will the mobo accept DDR2 667 even though the standard is 800?

I know the difference is just speed, but idk whether or not it will mess things up if i use the 667.

Yes, your motherboard will run it at 667MHz. You could even set your memory to run at 800MHz, but you'd need to up the voltage a little. Most 667MHz memory can run at 800MHz without issue.

    Just speed?

Memory compatibility is determined by type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) and speed (333, 666, 1333, whatever).

If you mix the type, only the recognized one will work, if any.

If you mix the speed, only the slowest one is recognized, if of the correct type, if any.

You can try the 667, as it is slower it may work, if it works, don't worry about the difference in the speed, you won't notice.

It should not mess it up but why downgrade. if you plan to add the 667 alongside an 800 then that would be a mistake. if you want to add more memory, the memory sticks should be very much the same if not identical. other wise you will be looking at all kinds of errors.

Yes, the 667 meg memory will work just fine. And, if you don't use programs like Auto CAD or Photoshop, you will not notice any reduction in speed.

If you would really like to know everything about this motherboard, just go to the manufacturer's web site and download the manual.

No, 667 MHz will not work. the slowest memory it will support is DDR2 800 MHz and will support overclocked memory that can go up to 1200 MHz.

bodily, confident it is going to greater wholesome, even nevertheless it won't run at this is rated velocity. i'm no longer precisely valuable what happens, or if it rather works in any respect, yet my concept is that the board will underclock your RAM to greater wholesome the reminiscence widespread it makes use of. yet you would be greater effective off purely determining to purchase 2 sticks of DDR2 667, that way you be attentive to for valuable it's going to paintings

not only could that memory not be compatible but it will reduce the system performance if it would power up on them...

Save up the funds to buy some of the memory on the compatibility list for that motherboard. This will save you time money and frustration.
