Is it dangerous for the government to control our agricultural resources?

There is a bill before congress, the FDA Food Modernization Act, that makes it illegal for you to grow, share, sell or trade food you grow yourself. And if caught you will be fined and have your property seized.

A year ago the NIA (National Inflation Association) predicted inflation would effect food and agriculture. In the past few months coffee has inflated 40%, pork 50%, wheat over 100%.

Executive order 10998 allows the government to seize all food and resources during a crisis, without the approval of congress.

During the depression congress enacted the Agricultural Adjustment Act which paid farmers to destroy their crops to artificially raise food prices, which increased the duration of the depression, and the people nearly starving to death.

Government meddles in everything in order to finance the greed of corporatism, but their control over our food can be detrimental to our very survival, especially if you can't grow/raise your own food.

Yes sir the market and the growers should be the ones controlling the agricultural resources, the outlawing of what you can grow on your own land is outrageous, and the type of thing that revolutions spring from. In my opinion we can not allow these measures to be imnplimented

The HHS will require registration and payment of a fee by any "person (excluding farms and restaurants) who manufactures, processes, packs, distributes, receives, holds, or imports an article of food." Individuals who partake in food handling without official registration are subject to a maximum 10 year prison sentence. Registration requires each facility which produces or handles food to maintain records relating to food safety.

The bill contains an exception for food grown and consumed at private residences. As of the current writing, the bill does not contain an exception for small farmers if in the course of their operations they pack or distribute their produce. According to the text of the law all food sold at local farmers' markets, for example, would be subject to the certification requirements.

You can grow your own food still.

Yes GOV control of anything make a mess out of it. With all the Oil we have and can't drill because of GOV control and intervention. They chose to Use corn which cost more to make gas and could be sold for food world wide. They pay farmers NOT to grow food to control the prices. Gov needs to stay out maybe NOV 2 the citizens can take control and direct the Gov on what we want.

Yes, basic freedom includes sharing the bounty of America with fellow Americans and that includes sharing foodstuffs we may or may not grow ourselves.

No more dangerous than to have it in the hands of a few multinational conglomerates/corporations.
