Everyone wants change but they say that voting for a 3rd party (not Repub or Dem)=throwing the vote away, HOW?
Everyone is upset b/c the govt has NEVER run into the trouble that was caused in previous administrations (not just Bush but Clinton and as far back as Reagan, maybe further) and everyone seems to be in utter chaos. Only b/c they ARE!
It's obvious that what the Repub's tried to do did not work so why would they want to go back to that and the Democrats seem to be fixing things but not fast enough and they are not doing it completely. Some economists say we need to spend more, others say we have already spent too much. Chaos reigns supreme.
So ... are there ANY good 3rd parties? I always liked Chuck Baldwin who ran for President in 2008 on the Constitution Party ticket, and believed in going back to the Constitution and the gold-backed dollar, and thinning down the govt ... but then can we trust ANY politician any more? ONE trust issue is that ALL of the members of Congress and the Presidents for the last 75 years are ALL members of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) EXCEPT for Senator Ron Paul, Paul's son, and his close friend Chuck Baldwin.
The trick is to elect someone who is NOT a member of the CFR. If we can get enough NON CFR people in the govt we MIGHT be able to make some sense of everything. But how do we do that?
Do YOU think we should vote for 3rd Party candidates and if so, who are your faves? WILL YOU be voting for a 3rd Party candidate? Why or Why Not?
Thanks to all and I NEVER "thumbs down" anyone. PLEASE speak your minds!

It's nice to read a question where one knows something of the ROOT of what is going on in our corrupt government. Interesting fact on CFR (I hadn't known this). Darrell Issa Repub Senator is for reversing illegal immigration, a litmus test, so maybe a few CFR members are against corporate globalism? I'm checking out Chuck Baldwin. I like the Independent Party, and the Libertarian Party (depends on candidate). I liked Ross Perot too. Think we need tv station, mailings, etc. to spread the word on good candidates and what our government is up to.

This is because, odds are that third party candidate will have no chance in actually winning the election, therefore when you vote third party, you are taking away a vote from a candidate who may have had a chance to win, or splitting the vote. So in a close vote, where either a democrat or republican could win, voting the 3rd party would take a vote away from the democrat or republican candidate, now if enough people do this, still considering the third party candidate will most likely not win, the vote taken away from the other parties could determine who will win. Now say there are 1000 votes cast, with 450 going to each candidate of the democrat and republican candidates, and 100 going to a third party. Now if any of those votes for that third party were cast for either of the other candidates, they would have won the election. Or take it one step farther, if one candidate received 475, the other 450, the first would win the election, now if there were even 75 votes for a third party, that otherwise would have been cast for the second candidate, giving them 525 votes, now the second candidate would have won. This is how voting on a third party can affect an election.

I don't think a vote for a 3rd party is a wasted vote. If enough people vote for a 3rd party, the party gains credibility, can get more publicity, more financial contributions and, hopefully, do better next election. I don't think a 3rd party candidate can win a national election or even a state-wide election IN MY state, though. Vote your conscience.

Well when you vote for a 3rd party candidate with similar beliefs to, lets say a republican, the candidate could "steal" the votes away from the republican causing the democrat to win the election

To me, voting for someone who has little or no chance to win, like your average 3rd party candidate, is a vote for the winner.

depends n the kind of people in the 3rd party.
Abreak away person from the two parties cannot be regarded as being a 3rd party person.

If you don't throw your vote toward the person who can win... then it is a waste.
I wish it weren't true... but it is.
