What is God and does he live in a parallel universe?

Not who. We supposedly know that from the book, but what? He's certainly not a carbon based being like we are. Does he have substance, or is he more gassy? Maybe just really complex electrical energy of some kind. And how does he exist in a universe with certain laws, but not have to follow them?

God was described by Anslem as "beyond the highest possible thing which man could ever imagine". Whatever our individual picture of Him is, it is wrong. In the Bible it says that the universe and all in it are for Him but a grain of sand. You are still trying to make God fit within our 3 dimensional sense of reality. Sorry... not going to happen. If He did create the universe then by definition His existence does not depend on the universe. If He created the universe then He also created the laws by which our universe (as well as any parallel universes) run. Therefore He is not bound by them.

We live in our 3-dimensional world with the 4th dimension of time. However for some of the most accepted scientific principles to work scientists have said there must be more than our 4 dimensions. So far they have postulated that there must be a minimum of 11, with 4 of them being different dimensions of time. Think of it like a tape recorder.. play, forward, reverse, pause. A being who lived in ALL the dimensions as we live in our four would have no form or substance as you try to describe. Time and space or distance would be completely meaningless concepts. He could go back and forth in time at will. As as result He could spend your entire life holding your hand, while at the same "time" spend the entire life of an alien around a distant planet holding his.

I think here the fact that God is mysterious and unknowable remains. No matter how much we learn about how God created the universe (i.e science) we'll never be smart enough to comprehend the creator himself.

The fact that no one knows is something to think about. The truth is, it's all made up. If God, was such a being, don't expect anyone to know or have all the answers.

God is Spirit for the short answer...and we can know God...Jesus is God....God gave us rules to obey but we disobeyed God...and the punishment is death...but Jesus shed His blood and died for our sins and rose again so we could be saved. He is the only Way to the Father. Jesus is the Savior and the only One who can save us from hell.
