If you use the My Saved Search feature on Answers, do you like the trending search?

If you go to http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_saved there is usually a search there that is based on what people are talking about across Yahoo! which we call our trending search example. Do you like this search? If you are using My Saved Search regularly, have you kept this search or did you replace it with one of your own? If you are visiting My Saved Search for the first time, did you understand why that search was being displayed?

I use (and LOVE) the advanced saved searches daily!

But I have to admit that I'm not very "Trendy".

On my first visit to Advanced saved searches, I understood the explanation about the trending searches, but they never were of any interest to me.

I left the "Trending" search results on my saved searches for less than a week,

and quickly replaced it with my own saved search.

Since I am only allowed 10 anyways, I needed to delete it to make room for what *I* was interested in. I wish that I could save more than 10.

I can see what's "Trending" from the Yahoo! Home page. Even there, I rarely (in fact never) have any interest in whatever it is that others are searching.

The current "Trending" line on top of my *Answers Home page has never been a highlight of my own interests either. And if there is something of interest to me the "Trending" line appears on the other Y!A pages as well.

(*I am still having issues getting the Y!A Home page to appear without several/many refreshes. Not a huge problem except that I rarely waste time refreshing, as I want to move on to my own interests... but since I rarely see the Y!A Home page, I miss the marquis module and almost never see whats featured , nor the Y!AT Blog)

No, I don't like the trending search. And the bizarre thing is, on the Italian version at least, it usually seems to generate a random search there and come back with "We're sorry! There are no results for [whoever it is, it's usually some B-list celebrity]." It always makes me chuckle, as I wonder how these random search arguments are generated and why does it apologise to me for not giving any results on something rather trivial which I never asked for.

The trending search usually works as intended on the English version, but is never of any interest to me. Actually I find it mildly irritating, as that screenshot could be better used if it gave me an automatic update of the results from my last-used saved search ... that would save me an unnecessary mouse click. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I use my favourite saved search a lot, so those extra clicks add up and you especially don't want unnecessary scrolling and clicking on the mobile version.

I suppose the trending search is useful for showing people who don't normally use saved searches how the feature might be used, but otherwise I think it's a bit wasteful. I would prefer to see resources redirected to adding the saved searches feature to the mobile version of Answers.

No, not really. I'm usually not much interested in whatever is "trending" or popular, so after getting a couple of completely unrelated search results I got rid of it, and now I just use my own saved searches.

As for the last question: I had not paid attention to that part when I read about the Search update/improvement, so I was surprised when I saw those questions for the first time. However, I went back to the explanation and quickly understood what it was about.

No I never really liked the trending search much and especially as it was the default output when you went to saved searches

So I actually deleted it early on and can honestly say I haven't missed it. Now I have the default as one of the ones that I use more regularly. Plus it gave me space for one more saved search.

Now if I could get more space for more than the 10 permitted saved searches it would be even better, but that's another story :)

The only problem with that is that there are usually no or very few questions on the subject, I have kept the search but am thinking of deleting it as I have a few searches of which I got the additional points for a certain number of searches.

I haven't used it yet, nor do I foresee using it in the future. It is somewhat distracting

edit>>> sorry, I need to answer the rest of the question. I do not currently have the trend search , I ended up deleting it a couple of months ago to shorten my saved search list.

I did not realize at any time that it was meant to be an example, I don't think it was ever specified and I didn't make the connection.

No, at first I just ignored it before I completely deleted it.

I wasn't confused when I saw it for the first time, it was obvious what it is and why it was displayed.

But it simply didn't match my perception of interesting and trendy subjects. What is trendy for one group of people doesn't necessarily corresponds to what is trendy for other group of people hanging around YA. I find "recent questions suggested for you" thing and "popular questions" tab in specific categories more relevant (although not perfect either) for my search, besides my customized saved searches of course.

I do not like that feature. i like to set my search up. i do not want to see what some one thinks is trending.. Just my opinion..

Edit : sheesh . reread question.. I did not know it was an example of what a save search looks like.
