Do you prefer a desktop or laptop for intensive tasks?

I've read a lot of questions where people are asking about gaming laptops etc I was wondering what everyone's opinions on this was.

If you want a gaming system, would you prefer a laptop or desktop?

I'd prefer desktop all the way lol laptops are portable and as such I only use mine for less intensive tasks. But when it comes to serious stuff (work or play) I always prefer a desktop. Not only that but laptops aren't really portable enough for me :P Netbooks are just about ok but as you know, they're not serious computing devices.

So whats your take on this whole desktop/laptop business? Which would you prefer for intensive computer use??

I would say that desktops are more durable and long lasting. I have a Compaq windows 1998 which is still working in good condition. I had to change my windows xp hard drive once and i had to get a new charger.

Personal preference is a desktop over a laptop for any serious work/gaming. That said, you can get really nice laptops but you pay a higher price for them. Desktops have the advantage of size and more customization options that you can't get in a laptop.

Laptops have been getting pretty impressive lately, but you will never match the power of a good desktop computer with a laptop. Go for the desktop.

I agree with you. I have a powerful gaming desktop and then I have a netbook for portable computing. I also have a laptop from my work, but I don't really count that as much :p

Desktop all the components are faster.

I can use remote desktop (terminal server client) to access the desktop machine allowing

me to use a laptop but have the power of the desktop server and still sit in my comfy chair.

Desktop... Not only everything is faster, there are options unavailable on laptops like 3+ disk RAID, 3+ monitors, surround sound, expansion cards, and can be easily repaired and upgraded.

Besides, laptop keyboards aren't good, and the display height can't be adjusted.

i would personally go for a desktop because even though you can get some good gaming laptops upgrading is more of a tricky proccess because technology is constantly upgraded and updated
