You should definitely try Death Note. It's the best anime series of all times, a real masterpiece. Code Geass is also a must-watch. My friends suggest: Death note, Fairy Tail and Rave Master.

I strongly suggest you watch Full Metal Alchemist. It follows the Elric brothers. Edward Elric, is the eldest, and is headstrong but a great character. Al, his younger brother, doesn't even have a body, his spirit is entombed to a suit of armour. This is due to the two of them trying to perform human alchemy to bring their mother back to life. Ed and Elric are seeking something or someone that may return Al to his original state. However, Ed isn't without burdens, his right arm and left leg were stripped from him, when he tied Al's spirit to the suit of armour in an attempt to save him.

It's subbed and Dubbed and I just love it. Ed and Al aren't your typical main characters but Full Metal Alchemist is essential to be watched, due to its wonderful and exciting plot-line. It's sad and full-on but at the same time has absolutely hilarious moments.
