The bright orange flame image at the tail end of the object is NOT an optical illusion. It was a rocket or more likely, the ramjet that may be used in the replacement for the SR71.

It wasn't a missile. Its a plane contrail at a camera angle that makes it look like a missile. You fell for the news blowing crap out of proportion.
