Besides headlice, what causes an itchy scalp?

So for about a week or so now I've had an itchy head. Once I realized "hey I've been scratching more then normal" I went out, bought a thing of anti-lice shampoo, and used it. However when I was using the comb I noticed there were no dead bugs, no live bugs, and no eggs coming out in teeth of the comb. So the next day I combed my hair with the comb again, and again no bugs. I got my dad to check my hair, and no bugs. I went to the hairdresser, and she didn't see any (I needed a hair cut anyway), and now my head is still itchy!

So besides head lice, what can cause your head to itch?

Lice. Also--if you have started to use a new hair product recently you could be a little allergic to it, causing a reaction of itchiness on your scalp. It's pretty rare, but sometimes people don't form reactions to certain products until later in use--so if you have been using a product for a while but now it starts causing you itchy scalp, it could just be showing up late. I'd say experiment with cutting out certain hair products from your daily routine and see if the itchiness stops. Hope this helps! :)

Your hairdresser shouldve looked at your hair and scalp much better. There are several different skin conditions you could have. You could have dry scalp, dandruff, dermatitis of any kind, psoriasis, etc. Generally if you go to a dr and they tell you that you have dermatitis, you need to ask them what kind because dermatitis is just another word for inflammation of the skin-this doesnt narrow it down. If they dont know, they may want to scrape some of your skin and run tests on it to find out, but a dermatologist will pretty well know right off the bat.

If you have eczema, it is important to take good care of your skin. Learn here https://tr.im/6v1Ve

Take warm (not hot!) baths on a regular basis and immediately applying moisturizers afterward will help keep your skin moist.
