Am I really building muscle?
My family has a membership to the local YMCA and we go once a week and twice a week on ocassions. Most of my time spent there is lifting weights. My question is if I go once a week, will I build muscle?

You don't get muscles just for showing up and hanging out. Let's hear some details.

You will definitely not build muscle going once a week. 100% sure on that. You need to go 3 times at the least. But I recommend 4 times.

It really depends on what types of weightlifting exercises you are doing, how heavy the weight is you are lifting, and the number of repititions you are doing.
In general, yes you will build some muscle, but it is better to go 3 times a week. Try talking to one of the trainers at the Y for some advice.

Kidx has it right.
If you are working out hard and smart, and eating right, you will get muscle but you can only go so far once a week. You'll still be far ahead of where you are now at the end of a few months.

To be honest, no thats not frequent enough. You should go around four times a week and alternate your muscle groups.
