As we can see from the answers above, most of us have either always separated Chris Benoit the wrestler from Chris Benoit the person, or have learned to separate the two. Vince can erase Benoit from WWE history if he wants, that's his right as the owner of the company, but he can't erase Benoit's wrestling career from the minds of the fans.
Chris Benoit is the greatest in-ring performer I've ever seen. Nothing will ever change that...unless somebody actually better comes along, in which case Benoit will move down to number two.
But I wouldn't put him in the top ten of the greatest "superstars" list. The top ten is reserved for that special breed who have changed the business (for the better) in some way or another. My top five "best of all-time":
1. Ric Flair -- the most complete all-around performer, inside the ring and out, the business has ever had. Flair had no weaknesses anywhere in his performances. It didn't matter what the rest of the card was, if Flair was in the main event it was pretty much guaranteed a sell-out. And, very important, Flair made it cool to cheer for the heels that so many fans do today. Flair was the first "cool heel", a decade before Stone Cold rose to the top of the WWF.
2. Hulk Hogan -- Hogan did something no other wrestler before him (not even Flair) could, and that's take pro wrestling global in the MAINSTREAM. Hogan made it cool (for any- and everybody) to be a wrestling fan.
3. Gorgeous George -- completely shattered the mold for what is acceptable in a wrestling gimmick and made it possible for the Undertakers and the Goldusts and the *insert your favorite gimmick* to be not only possible, but acceptable to fans. George also helped to make the new invention, television, a roaring success, as millions of people bought TVs just to see George wrestle.
4. Lou Thesz -- had the rock-solid credentials and legitimate wrestling skills to give the NWA World Title the credibility it needed to convince most fans that wrestlers aren't just actors doing stunts. In the 40's and 50's Thesz unified many regional championships into one true "World" title, making the NWA the strongest alliance of promotions the business ever had, and ever will have, and the NWA World Title the most prestigious championship in wrestling history.
5. Stone Cold Steve Austin -- THE defining character in the "Attitude Era" (encompassing the WWF, WCW, and ECW) which brought about a fundamental and enormous shift in the way the wrestling business presented itself. Hogan took the cartoon world of pro wrestling global. Austin (because of his popularity) forced it to "grow up".
The next several on the list would be filled with the likes of Freddie Blassie, The Sheik, Dusty Rhodes, The Crusher, Bruno Sammartino, Bruiser Brody, etc. Wrestlers who either created or defined a gimmick that proved popular with millions of fans, and who consistently sold out arenas wherever they appeared for years and years.
Benoit would probably land about number 20 on my list.
WQ -- The guys in the back (Steamboat, Arn Anderson, Slaughter, Rotundo, etc) at every show. Unfortunately Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan can't be there, but I hope Jim Ross and Jesse Ventura will be. Perhaps the Iron Sheik, Hacksaw Duggan, and Doink, and a few others like them, will appear.
WQ2 -- As much as I do not like Randy Orton, no. Barrett has not proven himself "worthy" of carrying either WWE world title. He rarely wrestles and needs help to win when he does get in the ring. The WWE Title has been passed around far too often the past few years as it is. Putting it on another "rookie" now...way too soon.
WQ3 -- My favorite was Aksana, but I stopped following it when it moved to wwe.com. If she's still in it, then she would still be my favorite.
WQ4 -- yeah. I saw the birth of The Four Horsemen and every incarnation of the group. Fourtune is the best "knock-off" of the Horsemen I've ever seen. They do embody the spirit of the originals (Flair, Tully, Ole, and Arn) very well. Flair is nothing like JJ Dillon, though (he doesn't need to be). Flair is Flair, and that's great for Fourtune. I'd rather they not be part of Immortal (the original Horsemen never needed anybody but themselves and didn't join other factions), and I hope someday soon they will separate themselves from Hogan and Bischoff and continue building their own legacy, separate from Hogan.

No Doubt About It, Yes, He Was Great, I Dont Give A Shi* What He Did In His Personal Life, I Respect His Wrestling Career, And He Could Have Been EASILY Been In The Top 10
WQ- I Hope Some Of The Old School Early 2000's Wrestlers
WQ2- No, Because Then John Cena Will Be Free'd and We All Know He Will Eventually Beat Barrett And Win The WWE Championship...But I Like The Storyline So Far
WQ3- To Be Honest I Dont Watch NXT, But I Heard The Best Thing About It Is The Commentary
WQ4- Yes, It Makes A Good For A Good Storyline... But To Be Honest,,, If He Diddnt Want To Retire And Keep Wrestling He Shouldnt Have Pulled That Retire From The WWE Storyline And Kept Wrestling.

No, WWE has erased Chris Benoit from it's history and for a REASON.
That silly WWE made list doesn't change the fact that in MY MIND Chris Benoit is one of the greatest wrestlers to ever set foot in a wrestling ring.
WQ: I'd expect Dusty Rhodes & "The Million Dollar Man" to make an apperance and have something to do with the Goldust/Ted Jr. feud.
WQ2: No, in my opinion Wade still have some proving to do (By himself) befor winning world gold. But then again Sheamus won the WWE strap awfully quick.
WQ3: Naomi or AJ: I am not a huge fan of Aksana & Kaitlyn mainly because they are the worst of the remaining four divas and they are somehow involved in storylines.
WQ4: I am not a HUGE fan of fortune (Since Matt Morgan left) But I do appreciate the talent that the stable posess.

Yes, of course. He was one of the best wrestlers ever if not the best. He should of definitely been within the top 3 of their list. But looking at their whole list a lot is spot on, but others names just don't belong in the top 50 whatsoever. Vince McMahon would not dare but Benoit in any list like that. To some people it will offend because at the end of the day, to the world benoit is known as a wrestler, but also as a killer. Guilty until proven innocent... Innocent until proven guilty. We'll never know. But from what we do know, McMahon won't add Benoit to such a list, even if he was the best wrestler.
WQ: I honestly don't know, should be good though. I was hoping Shawn Michaels but I guess that won't happen.
WQ2: Yes, because it rids Cena of Nexus which is good. And to have a British WWE Champion would be awesome and then hopefully Wade will ditch the nexus because he made it to the top of the mountain and don't need them no more.
WQ3: Naomi.
WQ4: No.
Source(s): @ RSCP, you're right that it isn't good to honour a murderer. However, from what I've seen and read there is no real proof Benoit murdered anyone. Its one of those things we'll never know just like 9/11. I think it is truly ignorant to erase a man from history because no matter what he may have done outside WWE, you have to be respectful enough to remember what he did inside the ring. - How do you think about the answers? For sure! He was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Hes not in my top 5 wrestlers, hes in my top 10 though. He had one of the best submissions ever. It could be done anywhere, he found ways to reverse wrestlers moves into the crossface and that's why i liked that submission so much. What i hate is that people lose respect for him because he murdered his family and commit ed suicide. He couldn't help it. He had the brain of an 80 year old, he couldn't control himself. People die everyday. Even after his death hes still considered one of the best wrestlers ever. He didn't pull off very flashy moves. He was a pure wrestler, with some "real" submissions. He will always be known to me as one of the best wrestlers that WWE ever had.
R.I.P. Chris Benoit.
WQ: I want HBK to appear tomorrow, i wouldn't expect it to happen but i heard Marty Jannety would be there too and seeing them together again would definitely bring back some memories for old skool fans. I think you know this already, but they were in a tag team together called "The Rockers" HBK went off to be successful and Marty, well his career didn't go so well. But seeing them together will certainly be something nice to see. Even better, HBK would be back!
WQ2: As much as i hate both Orton and Barrett, i would do anything to get the title off Orton. Hes been champion like 9 times already (I lost count because hes won so many) and we need new, fresh talent holding the title. Barrett would make a good Champion too, and he deserves it because he won NXT S1 and i thought you were supposed to get a title shot if you won. This is a once in a lifetime chance for Barrett.
WQ3: AJ Lee. She is definitely the next Mickie James. She is almost an exact copy of Mickie. When Mickie first started off, she skipped down the ramp like AJ does. They both have similar mic skills and similar wrestling skills. The only thing they have different is looks. If AJ won, she would definitely make an impact on the WWE Divas division by replacing Mickie James.
WQ4: Yes. They are a very good heel group, but some people are saying its TNA's version of Nexus. Only i find Fortune to be full of a lot better wrestlers, such as AJ Styles. So far, ive been impressed with them, i just don't want TNA to screw up like WWE did with Nexus. I like how the angle is going right now, so far so good!

hell yeah i do!. chris benoit was obviously one of the greatest professional wrestlers thats ever stepped foot in the ring. this guy was one of the best technicians ever. he could execute suplexe's and the rest of his holds to near perfection. he was a great technical wrestler and a great mat wrestler and a submission specialist. he could also do some highflying manuvers to make the match more exciting!. chris benoit was one of the most intense wrestlers i ever laid eyes on. his suplexes and backbreakers and chops were devastating to watch!. he was extremely stiff and nobody was more intense in the ring than he was. he could also put on really good matches and he made his opponents look good. he was a really good seller in the ring and told a story. chris benoit was a united states champion and a world heavyweight champion and a royal rumble winner. he has had a really good career and has a great wrestling background. he is an icon imo. if you mean top greatest WRESTLERS, based on what i have seen, im gonna say....... number 3. he is after kurt angle and dean malenko. if you mean SUPERSTAR of all time, then i would say he is in the top 15 of all time. i can't really say a number on that lol.
wq: i think either lita will make a surprise appearance, or shawn micheals. i just have a feeling that 1 of them will show up. i think ricky steamboat will be there and bret hart. i don't know who else will be there.
wq2: yes. i don't want cena to leave for one lol. i also am liking the nexus more and more. if wade barrett is champion than the undertaker wil be hunting him down for what he did to him and challenge him for the wwe championship. i don't want wade to face undertaker at wrestlemania, but i would like to see the undertaker vs the nexus for the wwe championship. also, wade barret is entertaining and so is the rest of nexus. if wade becomes champion then it would show how dominate they really are. i don't believe in pushing a newcomer so quick, but nexus is entertaining and i guess it wouldn't hurt.
wq3: tbh, i stopped watching nxt season 3. the divas division is dead now. i stopped watching it a few weeks ago, cause i just wasn't into it. if they don't show it on tv, then im not going to take the time to watch it, cause the divas division sucks really bad.
wq4: heck yeah i do! im a big fan of aj styles. i also like beer money, kazarian, and doug williams. i think there all amazing wrestlers and athletes. i respect them all. there very entertaining imo. i enjoy there segments and matches. there good at what they do.its funny to me when ric flair calls himself "god". no disrespect to him, but thats funny!.

He should've been on the top 5 list even, because it's not based on what you did outside of the ring, its based on what you did inside, and you can make an argument that Chris Benoit is the greatest wrestler of all time. Last time I checked, the list was of the best WRESTLERS, not who led the greatest lives.
WQ: Jim Ross, some old people, Ricky Steamboat, maybe Shawn Michaels, perhaps people from SD! too.
WQ2: No, because he is boring and has been on the main roster for like, half a year. He just isn't ready.
WQ3: I don't watch it, but I have to say A.J.
WQ4: Yes, b/c it wields the future with AJ Styles, Beer Money, and Kazarian.

Hell yes.He earned it.And after WM27,he WILL be inducted.
1.Same old wrestlers they dragged out from backstage every other time.
2.No.I want Wade to go back to Florida.
3.Really doesn't matter seeing as how that show isn't even good enough to be on tv and how everybody shows up on Raw anyways.
4.No.It's another Four Horsemen/Evolution.

Yes. His personal life should not interfere with his wrestling career. He was a great wrestler and the incident doesn't change that. The incident will never change my opinion of Chris Benoit as a wrestler. I would place him in the top 10.
WQ: Sgt. Slaughter, Iron Sheik, Tatanka, Howard Finkel, and many others that I can't seem to remember.
WQ2: No since he doesn't deserve it
WQ3: I don't watch the show
WQ4: Yup, it is pretty great.
