If you favor legalizing gay marriage, do you also favor legalizing polygamous marriage?

One of the arguments against gay marriage is the slippery slope argument. Is it a valid argument?

Update:

No Chance, when the topic is "legalizing" vice not condemning,, there are aspects tht will affect you financially, so you do have a right to an opinion.

Update 2:

Canadian, both prhoibitions against gay marriage and polygamous marriage are based purely on legislating morality. How is it a stupid question? (C'mon, earn your 2 points).

Update 3:

Thomasina, naturally.

Corey, good argument.

Saz, you would not be able to get such guarantees.

I favor recognizing same sex marriage. The partners don't have to be gay. Men are allowed to marry women, and because of the equal protection clause that means women should be allowed to marry women too.

Safe sex marriage solidifies the egalitarianism in the partnership. Polygamy undermines it.

Well, if all three (or more) parties agree to the terms of the marriage upon establishment of the marriage, what is the problem?

The people who are for polygamous marriages usually see the wives as property, which is wrong, and not legal in any form.

Yes, because what other people do is none of my business.

Actually, though, I'd be more in favour of automatic marriage-equivalent rights by simple virtue of cohabitation. Any group of people who share a postal address should get the same rights as a married couple.

I do believe same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

If a man wants to marry 3 women or vice versa let them be. If they are a happy couple or group of people than why not let them marry?

There is no argument, only suppression of the rights of other human beings.

It is a valid argument, but I would just favor gay marriage, not polygamous marriages.

A polygamous marriage would probably end up having approval from multiple spouses. Either way I'm not too interested but who cares.

Provided that all parties are consenting adults and in the case of polygamous relationships the family can support themselves and all resultant children without resorting to welfare payments then I see no problems with legalising either.

That has to be, without a doubt, one of the least intelligent arguments I've read here.

Congratulations, you've lowered the collective IQ of everyone reading this prattle...

Yes. I would argue that polygamy should be legal because of freedom of religion. Mormon practices polygamy. Nothing wrong with either of them just a way of showing love for the ones you want.

Are they the same or affect the same people? If not, then you do not have a question.
