Why is it that in anime or manga...?

if a character has any mark on the face (tattoos, scars, eyepatch, etc), it's usually on the left side of the face more often than the right side of the face? Is there some sort of hidden meaning in it, like left vs right, is it more visually appealing, or what?

The only idea I can come up with for maybe eyepatches or scars is if they were struck on the left side while facing a right handed opponent, but why would the tattoos and birthmarks usually be drawn on the character's left side also?

    Hmm...

    now I think about it,

most of the times in a manga when a chara is facing front

the mangakas draw a little bit to the left (for doing it a little bit more tridimentional)

    I wonder why...........

well since that happens i would say

it is on the left side, because it is something that makes that chara stand out

and it should be on the side that is more drawn

Maybe or simply its a convention of how people in the industry do things.

its probably easier for the artist to draw it that way.
