What is the best beer to go with Thanksgiving dinner?
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I was wondering what everybody thinks to be the best beer, or list of beers, to pair with your feast.

This is suck a tough one to answer. I mean you want it to be balanced so that it complements the turkey and doesn't get over powered by the rich sides. You want EVERYONE to enjoy it. I usually say choose a beer for each course of the meal
For appetizers you want something that will wet the appetite and complement the salty snacks in your relish trays and dips. Needs to be full flavored, but not filling.
- Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold. It is well balanced and clear.
- Straub - It is so clean and refreshing in taste. It will wash away the heavy appetizers and leave your palette clean for the main course.
The main course...we need to get bolder here. Though turkey is a delicate meat, the sides are usually big and rich. We want something with a moderate amount of hops and a low level of maltiness so that it doesn't get muddled. We don't want a hops bomb here. Though you and I might like them...not all our guest do.
- Yuengling Traditional Lager. Moderately hopped and a low level of maltiness make this a great choice for the dinner.
-Anchor Steam. Sure to please most beer drinkers, this beer isn't quite a lager and it isn't quite and ale. It is full flavored and nicely carbonated.
Sam Adam's Irish Red. Just so happens to be available right now. A bit malty, but the hops will cut thru that.
Dessert! This one is probably the most diffecult. Do we want a digestif? Do we want sweet and fruity? Oh, the choices!
- Lindeman's Fruit Lambics. Always a great choice, but here the tart/sweet combination pairs well with savory desserts.
- Lindeman's Faro. New to the US market this year (it was tested in a dew last year) this lambic is unlike any you've had before. Dark and sweet it is dessert by itself.
- Avery Hog Heaven Barleywine - The big bold fruity and hoppiness will act as a digestif and the ABV will the Tryptophan in the turkey a run for its money as to how will knock you out first.
These are just some of my suggestions for beers. Pay more attention to what effect you want your beer to have on the food. It really depends on you and your audience. You can also use my suggestions as style recommendations if the products mentioned aren't available in your area.
Cheers!

Beers like IPA, Saison, Triple, Extra Special/Strong Bitter (ESB), or a Bock all pair well with poultry. If you are eating red meats then pair your meal with Stouts, Porter, Dubbel, or a Belgium Strong Dark Ale. For desert pair with a lambic or a chocolate stout depending on what you are eating.

The Beerman's Beer of the Month is Trois Pistoles because it goes great with Thanksgiving dinner.

It would be perfectly acceptable to drink straight from the nozzle of a keg. AAMOF, it is considered a sign of good breeding and the host or hostess will be even doubly complimented by a loud belch after you drink!

Most people will be eating a fairly large meal with turkey as the main course. Go with a light pilsner or lager that won't be too filling.

The Amber or Red Ale category is the best fit.
