I'm making a strange noise in my throat?
Several times during the day I make a strange noise in the bottom of my throat. Its a noise people can make themselves but its involuntary to me. Its getting embarrassing as I make the noise when I'm out and my family are constantly giving out about it. I cant stop making it even when I try to stop when I know its going to happen and sometimes I cant even take a breath or cough without having to make this noise. I cant really describe the noise at all so I hope ye have enough to go on here. I'm just wondering why I'm doing it and what it is.
I don't smoke and I'm slim. I already use an inhaler for when I have colds and stuff cause I find it hard to breathe. I dont have any breathing difficulties so to speak now at this time. I have gastroenteritis and anxiety though but I don't think it has anything to do with them though.

DO you smoke?
If you do then stop. I don't meant to rant and lecture but it really is bad for your health.
If you don't then it could be asthma. Go to your doctor and get them to check you out.
Also, i don't mean to be rude x but are you overweight. Sometimes being overweight can cause you to have respiratory problems.
I recommend you see a doctor x
Good luck :)

When you say "having to," do you mean that you're actually making the noise? I mean, that your vocal cords are making the noise vs. it being a wheeze or something.
What does it sound like? Is it like a gag or choking or something, or more like a grunt or chirp?
Why I'm asking this: some individuals may repeatedly, suddenly, make noises or say words they have little or no control over, called vocal or phonic tics. Sometimes the person with a tic will feel a sensation of discomfort or tightness in the body part in which the tic occurs (in the case of vocal/phonic tics, the neck, thoat, mouth, lips, etc) that temporarily lessens or goes away when the tic occurs.
People with tics may find that they can briefly keep themselves from making the sounds or saying the words, although it is often very uncomfortable and may lead to having more tics later.
Whether or not it seems like a tic, it's worth having a doctor check it out.
