Could Calvinism be a stumbling block to the spread of the gospel of Christ?

Calvinists believe the Bible teaches that man cannot do anything to make himself acceptable to God.

    It can be, but doesn't have to be. Why not simply do what God requires, confess your sins to God, truly sorry from your heart and simply ask His forgiveness? He will, completely. Then turn from them proving your repentance is real. Trust that Jesus’ death on the cross took the punishment your sins deserved. All who do will receive eternal life and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to do what He commands. Why do you delay?

    Read how the Bible says to be right with God, Matthew 4:17; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19; Romans 2:4-5; Romans 3:23-24; James 2:10; Hebrews 9:27; 1 John 1:8-9; Romans 5:8; Romans 10:9-10; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Peter 3:18; John 3:36; 1 John 5:11-13

    No, it would not be a stumbling block. Only the motive for witnessing is changed, from "selling" and pity, to an excited expectation of a new life in Christ. Because they are participants in God's divine decrees, and because they do not know who is ultimately saved and who is not, the attitude toward the world around them is "you're saved...you just don't know it yet! Now let me tell you about Jesus Christ!"

    The answer to your question is no.

    The Bible says that Jesus is the stumbling block.

    Isaiah 8:14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

    1 Cor 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

    Man cannot do anything to make Himself acceptable to God. Even faith is the gift of God. Salvation is a Sovereign work of God that shuts men up to the mercy of God alone. It takes God to save a man; if a man realizes that he has no hope but in the grace and mercy of God through Jesus Christ....there is hope for Him yet.

    Because all our deeds are like dirty rags before God, says the Bible. The calvinists are correct.

    I have recently embraced Calvinism. No it doesn't stop me from preaching the gospel. Man cant do anything because God knows who will inherit the Kingdom that's the mystery of predestination. In fact going out and preaching the word is like going out and finding the future members of the promised church which was also predestined.

    Not that I noticed. You have a problem with diversity or are you imagining that all Christianity is or will become Calvinist?

    @Fridge- We don't believe that believing in Christ is a "work". We believe that faith LITERALLY comes from God. That we only believe BECAUSE OF GOD'S SOVEREIGN WILL.

    In the bible, Jesus told his disciples that he would return quickly to rapture his people. He then sent them into Israel to spread his message, and told them that he would return before they had visited each city.

    Source(s): How can one believe in the bible when by it's own admission we are supposedly living after the rapture already?
