How do you cope with those who are different?
The Kaleidoscope of Life - Living Together Differently. Life has its way of bringing us into contact with people who challenge us with their differences.
We tend to gravitate toward people who are the most like us, at least in the ways that make us feel comfortable. But life has its way of bringing us into contact with people who challenge us with their differences. It may be an obvious difference reflected in their outward appearance or an invisible but powerful philosophical stance, but even in our closest circle of friends and family, there are those that confront us with their different ways of experiencing and expressing life. We can choose to resist , but we can also choose to learn from them and appreciate that they too have a place in the kaleidoscope of life.
As much as we may say that we want peace and quiet and a life without struggle, the truth is that human beings are, at this time, thriving in a world of dualities and challenges. It is how we choose to approach these hurdles that determine if we sail over them, confirming our agility, or trip and end up face down in the dust. And each of us absolutely will and must stumble, and then get up, brush the dust off and carry on. This is how we learn and grow, developing depth of character and shades of understanding. In a world of dualities, we have trouble defining ourselves without something opposite, and can't discover who we are. Without challenge, there is nothing to do and nothing to discover. That leaves us either in a state of non-being or the state of pure spirit, but as humans, we are spiritual beings experiencing the physical world in all of its startling contrast and beauty.
No matter how spiritual we are, our lives will have challenges. We will always run into people that are different that we are, but the true challenge may be in finding ways to be at peace with this process. Rather than give in to the fight or flight response that comes from our animal nature, we can find new ways to evolve together into higher more beautiful expressions of ourselves, realizing, embracing and celebrating the beauty of diversity and the strength it offers for the future.

I don't see differences as something that requires coping. We're all unique.

Excuse me 'Without challenge, there is nothing to do and nothing to discover' is totally incorrect.
The original scientists proves this. Today's scientists peer into the microscope to discover and only one can look at any one time.
Necessity is the mother of invention, curiosity is the mother of discovery. No need for challenges.
Now to answer your question about those who are different. Sometimes I do not want them around and so go elsewhere. Other types I will not tolerate, no point in creating a challenge. I do have patience and use it when necessary. Everyone has the right to get on with life their way without challenge as do I. I do not need opposites to tell me who I am. There is too much life to get on with and enjoy to put up with those adrenalin junkies who seek to challenge and drain their fellow man.

It all sounds good on paper.. but in reality- I'd go totally INSANE if I had to live too close to some neighbor who blasted some horrid pop or rap or the like all day... or the ones who don't work so they party loud all night...
Been there, done that- in apartments where the neighbors had parties a lot.. in houses where the neighbors would eventually make me want to strangle them....
Moved to the middle of nowhere- with some elbow room and now I can get along with neighbors just fine!

In woodworking we have a coping saw. We use it to cut a shape that conforms to another so that they fit quite nicely together. When we realize that the difference isn't in them but in us we are more willing to cut out parts of ourselves that are in the way. So long as we do not cut essential essence, true Self, Spirit but only those things which are ego/mind and unessential we begin to grow larger as we pare away for then we have room for others where they would not fit before.

Different, causes no problems for me at all.
I love the diversity of people and of life, and plunge right in.
I remember always, that each person is a unique spark of the Divine, and love, honour and rejoice in that uniqueness.

Salutations to you and your question, Salutations to the other answerers and their answer. I would like to type down a few of the lessons Shiva told me before that I kinda follow. I hope Shiva helps me with this. In no way I am saying this is the way or the absolute. Hey beloved crazy blue man, a little help ! lol Parameswara
1) Shiva told me if I really want to connect with people then I must see them as the essence of everything, If you are a christian see them all as a christian, If you are a hindu see them all as a hindu, If you are a muslim see them all as muslim. Shiva says beyond the words we are of the same essence and in this manner you wont segregate people as race or culture but you will follow the truth of the moment presented to you by those around you. Shiva says follow the law of average till a truth changes that law and for this be aware that law of the average is not set in stone
2) Shiva told me if i really believed in my own path and ways then there is no need to argue or explain to others, Shiva says even for my own way and path to matter for me then there must be an opposing force giving existence to it. Shiva says its both the forces of inner and outer that completes you into the moment. Shiva says when a truth is spoken embrace it and let it shape your spirituality too. Shiva says spirituality evolves and that has to be allowed so that IT remains in the truth of the moment beyond the truth of the whole. Shiva says IT is called spirituality in every culture on earth for the reason spirit is free to be shaped as positive creative force for existence in the law of Christ. In the manner the told lost paradise in the scriptures not only gained by you but those around you.
3) Shiva told me everyone is looking for balance from the imbalance, from the untruth to the truth, so when conversing with people then it is advisable to converse something that adds to them and to you, Shiva says in public life people detest things that causes imbalance to the way they view the world, Shiva says never ever deny a persons form of spirituality but let your own spirituality add to theirs when the time and place arises for it, Shiva says every form of understanding both the matter and spiritual whether its through science, atheism, logic, religion, history, etc is simply seeking to unite with ITself. Shiva says non of this ways is wrong or better but be honest to yourself of the things that your heart approves as the truth for it is the seat of the universe and there is where Christ resides
Shiva says let IT do IT for IT knows how to be in ITself.
hmmmmmmmmm, ok please use your own thinking. All praises is for Lord Christ
Salutations to you and your path friend. Love you

Here's my philosophy:
They are different. Deal with it.
Really, they're people, so there isn't so big a difference as to be an issue.
This is really long, so I skimmed. Sorry if I just repeated you.

no two people in the whole world are the same so just look at yourself at being different and there you go
