Has this happened to ya'll?

True story:

I was on my way to visit my probation officer yesterday. I am on probation for racing motorcycles. I was on I-10/90 west bound into San Antonio near 410. This is a large, two lane divided hiway with alot of traffic. I was in the Left lane going ~70, which is the speed limit. A Tahoe came up behind me, fast. It switched lanes and passed me on the right, then returned to the left lane without using signals. Now, this was a civilian truck, but as it passed I saw the driver was wearing a SAPD uniform. I accelerated, and paced him at ~90, and got his plates. I pulled off, and called Internal affairs. After being run around a bit, I asked to speak to a supervisor. I did. He asked if the guy was going so fast, how did I get the plate. I explained that I caught up to him. He asked why I did this. I said, I felt it was a grave injustice that a police officer could do this with impunity. If a cop had seen me do that, he woulda caught up, and pulled me over (20 over is automatic jail. I didnt say so, but past experiance has shown, that if a cop had seen me do that, he would have pulled me over, beat me up, stolen my vehicle, put me in a cage and extorted money from me, all under the implicit threat of killing me if I resisted) The cop on the other end of the line, then said "well, you're not a trained driver" How on earth could he presume to know my level of training!?!?! For all he knows, I was the guy who devised the police academy driving course! I didnt press the point, but he was very dismissive, and I doubt he looked into it.

Is this what you have come to expect from those who serve and protect you?

Update:

@ Vader: I know, its not the worst thing thats ever happened, not by a mile, but is this what we've come to expect?

Update 2:

@ Debra, it really happened. It only took a few seconds to get close enough to read his plate. I left out the details of the phone call for brevity sake. I called 911 and asked for IA. I got the number, and called. The receptionist transferred me to someones voicemail, I called back she transferred me to the same voicemail. I asked to speak to a dept. supervisor, she gave me to someone, he asked if he could call back at a specific time, I said sure, and he did call back while I was waiting at the POs office. I find your "he's a cop with a good job and you're a parolee." strain of logic very disturbing to me. What is a "good job" a measure of? Does having a job put you above the law? What makes you think I dont have a good job? As with the cop who asserted I didnt have driver training, you are presumming things you cant possibly know. For the record, I was recently in the Marines, now Im self employed. I dont know that I make more than a cop, but I have alot of free time and Im happy.

Update 3:

also @ Debra, Im on probation FOR THE SAME THING THIS COP WAS DOING! DRIVING FAST!

Update 4:

@wawoomp:

Boy do keyboards give some folks big mouths. Im not assuming anything. Thats what happened when I got on probation. I was riding my motorcycle, faster than they liked, a helicopter came and spotlighted, demanded I pull over on the loudspeaker. I did. I had not seen any cop cars yet, and none were in sight. I got off the bike and waited. Three cars came, 5 dudes got out. They beat me up, knocked my bike over, took me to jail, and charged me with a bogus felony. I beat it in court, but this allowed them to keep the motorcycle. Im still paying the county for this service. Nothing is pressumed.

Update 5:

My age has been questioned, so for the record I'll say Im 23. At the time of my arrest I was 19, and on Christmas leave.

Maybe I should have phrased my query with less emotional emphasis.

    ha. thats not the worst i've heard or seen. That kind of reaction from I.A. is expected..

    dude i once saw LAPD cops rob ("extort") a liquor store, yeah w/ their guns in hand, and they just walked out w/ cash and got into their unmarked Crown Victoria a left. WTF, right? This was back like in 1998.

    Your story is BS. Unless you left 3 hours early to go see your probation officer, you wouldn't have had time to play Smoky and the Bandit with this cop car, pull off and make this phone call and have this long conversation with Internal Affairs after "being run around a bit" waiting to talk to someone. Even if this story is true, he's a cop with a good job and you're a parolee.
