What are Morrisons up to ?

At my local Morrisons I saw a notice that they want to sell alcohol on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

I thought that was a national not local restriction, so I googled and found -

Totnes -

It is a national restriction. I think they're trying to do what other supermarkets did a few years ago when they tried to have the basic shop opening hours laws changed. They were successful because all the big shops started to do it and it became impossible to just keep giving everyone fines.

If we the public want it, it will happen. I'm not so sure that we do want it.

I can't see why it is needed, or why it is forbidden.

You have to be a bit of a plum to forget the booze for xmas day.
