What would you like to ask?a titanium alloy has a yield strength of 127 MPa and an average grain size of 45x10?
a titanium alloy has a yield strength of 127 MPa and an average grain size of 45x10-3 mm. After processing, the grain size is 7.5x10-3 mm and the yield strength rises to 252 MPa. What grain size is required to produce a yield strength of 190 MPa?

σy= σo+ k/√d ; Where σy is the yield strength, d is the grain size and σo, k are two constants;
Therefore,
127= σo+ k/√0.045→k=(127- σo ) (3√2)/20
252= σo+k/√0.0075 →k=(251- σo)√3/20
So if we take the two equations we have that:
(127- σo ) (3√2)/20= (251- σo) √3/20→σo=40.773 , And
k=(127-40.773) (3√2)/20→k=18.291 ,so for yield strength equal to 190 MPa the grain size is:
190=40.773+ 18.291/√d→ d≈15 x 10^(-3) nm.
