My cat has bad breath?

I need to know some home remadies for him. I've owned him since he was a kitten he is now 13 years old. Also going to the Vet simply put IS NOT an option in my life right now.

i just went through this! my cat had the worst breath, and it turned out that she had terrible plaque. i had to borrow a bit of money from a friend, to get her teeth cleaned - it cost 138$ canadian, so about 115$ us. her breath is so much better and you can tell she feels better. she is more cuddly and is happier. i think her teeth were hurting before.

many vets have a new program that lets you pay over a long period of time, with no interest.

The teeth get very dirty when a cat gets older. My cat even got her gums infected and had to be put on antibiotics for a week. It's just plaque and tarter built up. If you never had her teeth cleaned, just take a close look. Cats dont brush their teeth do it just gets worse and worse. He needs once known as a "dental". They use to be cheaper back in the 70's-90's. But now they want a lot of money for a dental like $200 because the animal has to be put under and everything. But if you own a cat it has to be done every so many years!

Bad breath in cats is a sign of tooth problems. You say that the vet is not an option - well I'm sorry you have a cat that needs its teeth cared for properly by a VET and he MUST be taken to the VET.

If it is a financial issue then there are charities that can help you but you really, really MUST look after your pet properly. If you had a child with toothache you'd take them to the dentist wouldn't you? You wouldn't just give him a mint to suck. Pets come with the same responsibilities as children - step up to it and get him dental care.
