What should I do about a food aggressive kitten?
We're new to the fostering community, and right now we have 2 kittens (whom are about 4-5 weeks old). Jane is very food aggressive, not only to her sister, but to humans as well. She hisses, spits, bites, and growls. The two siblings were sharing the same bowl, but since then have been separated, which has not solved the problem. Even if the sister walks by (not near the bowl), Jane growls. I have stuck my hand in her bowl, and she has swatted, bit, growled, ect. I am at an end. Toot does not do this, so I know it's not something they should do. I have a 1 1/2 year old cat whom never did this.
As a foster family, you are supposed to prepare these guys for a family, and Jane is making herself undesirable. Can you please help?
The animal shelter isn't quite sure. They're thinking she died along with the other kittens.
The veterinarian didn't suggest milk, but did tell us to use soft food up until we went back 2 days ago for a check-up. Hard food was advised.

That's very young to show food aggression. But at this age, she should really be nursing. What happened to her mother? You will need to supplement with kitten formula if she does not have her mother around. Kittens should have mother's milk till they are 8 weeks. I once fostered a four week kitten. We bought the kitten formula at Walmart and just mixed it with water and put it in a bowl. She lapped it up. If possible, best to give wet food in addition to the kitten formula.

Don't put your hand in her bowl.
Problem solved.
