Does thinking about different things affect how quickly you fall asleep?

It seems so for me. When I think about sports (like a meet I have the next day), I will think about it for a while, and once I "snap out of it", I realize that my whole body is tense.

Do you have a specific thought you like to go to first? Do certain thoughts make you ease up?

    yeah just dont think of anything and fall asleep, watch some tv and go to bed
