My son's eye turns inward intermitently, has anyone had a child with this problem?

My son is going to a pediatric eye doctor next Tuesday for an exam but when he saw the neurologist last week see saw what I have been seeing off and on with my son. His left eye will turn inward when he is looking forward with the other eye. He cannot talk or tell us if he is seeing well. He is getting close to 4yrs old right now. I am worried that he may need surgery and wondered if anyone else had a similar problem with their child. He is also blinking excessively but this is also a symptom of brain tumors.

My son has "turning eye". He has had treatment for it since he was a baby. He wears an eye patch and glasses to strengthen the vision in his bad eye.

When your sons eye "turns" depending on how bad it is his brain will simply switch it off making him effectively blind in one eye.

Here is what they told me.

The turning eye has very bad vision because it's used so rarely.

Glasses and patching will improve the vision.

Once the vision in the bad eye is restored to the level of the good eye surgery is an option to fix the turn for good, however this is purely cosmetic. It doesn't help the vision and will only stick if his vision is fixed first.

    I hope this helps.

I actually had this when I was that age, ( but I think mine went outwards) I had to have surgery for it, but it was fast (something to do with the eye muscle) and I easily recovered from it. I would definitely make an appointment with your eye doctor and see what they say.

The blinking might be because it's bothering him?

Hi, one of my cousins had this, all i knew was that she had a turn in her eye, she had a little operation and it was sorted out in no time. She was 2. Hopefully thats all it is with your little 'un.

    Best of luck.
