Does this look like a genuine person who will pay me back?

I am a college student and I am probably getting suckered out of cash.

This man, dressed roughly, came up to me and told me a story about how he had brain damage and malpractice that damaged his chest.

That day he asked for $20 to get on a bus and the BART train from Berkeley across the bridge to San Francisco or Oakland. He said he would return at a time of my choice with money to pay me back, around 3-5 thousand dollars.

this morning, he did arrive, but he didn't have money. He said also that he lost the first $20 because of a hole in his pocket. He had papers though, rough but legit looking ones. They detailed that he was a victim of police brutality and that he had suffered brain damage. He had received a grant for his troubles of 10 thousand dollars or some amount.

I gave him another $20 so he could take the bus and get a ride. That way he would not have to risk getting hit by a car on the street and dying.

He promised that he would come again tommorrow at 3pm (I designated the time).

What I wish to know is, is he legitimite? Will I actually get money back? He promised he would return again tommorrow, but I am not sure whether he will actually pay me back since he didn't bring the money today (although his attorney did say something about the money arriving in the person's account this morning).

What do you think? Do you think I will actually get paid back, or do you think he'll come and ask for more money?

I say, you're a kind man for helping such a poor-off man. Situations like his can be real but it's good to weary when a stranger asks for help.

He could possibly be telling the truth and I am sure it will come back at you in some way.

Since there is a 50-50 chance I would say it's safe to assume that anything is possible with his story -- maybe a lie maybe the truth? When he returns you should know, and if the "money fell out of his pocket" again then I'd be concerned.

There are 3 type people you don't lend money to

unless they agree to give you something of equal

value or sign a note that you can use as evidence.

    FRIENDS, RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

Sorry to say this, but you are very fool hearted.

You just don't lend money especially to strangers.

Hell no. That area is innundated with homeless. You likely sponsored his latest liquor and heroin party.
