Why do people come on here and ask, "what did he/she mean by this"?

Why didn't you just ask the person who said it, instead of asking a bunch of strangers on the internet who weren't there, and have no idea of who you are talking about?

Because it's refreshing to get anothers perspective on the matter sometimes. Seriously - when there's too many games, you get confused... It sometimes helps to ask someone who isn;t involved - their nose aren't pressed up so close that they can't see anymore. I find advice from others useful most of the time =)

The question, "the place is this going?" looks a sprint convoluted. once you ask a guy the place a relationship is going, in his techniques he's thinking of two issues: intercourse or marriage. One skill, short-term, the different long-term. he's answering the fast-term because of the fact adult males are useful, they don't think of or plan adequate previous to time whilst it includes relationships. So, short-term, he's asserting he would not understand the place you adult males will finally end up because of the fact he remains in simple terms getting to appreciate you. You adult males are nevertheless relationship, so it style of feels, so needless to say he remains attracted to you. next time, rather of asking the form of obscure question, ask extra specially, so as that he can comprehend what you propose extra needless to say: "the place do you notice this relationship heading interior the subsequent month; next 5 months; next 12 months?" whilst he says: "Relationships come at distinctive speeds," it rather is his way of asserting, "He would not understand." it rather is his way of answering your convoluted question without feeling like an fool for not understanding a thank you to respond to it, and then fending off having you rephrase it - would not you experience like an fool if somebody had to repeat the comparable question to you a 2nd time in case you probably did not comprehend the 1st time? adult males are WAAAAY extra delicate to that.

Not everyone wants to walk up to the people they're asking about and ask them. They may think they wont get a truthful answer or they don't want to appear clueless to them. What does it matter? That's what YA is for. People sometimes seek advice here. Just because you don't do it doesn't mean it's wrong.

Good advice. It makes no sense to ask what someone meant by saying/doing something. We're all going to have different ideas here, and also have no insight into the real situation whatsoever. I've been guilty of something similar a few times, sadly. ;)

They want to ask until they get someone to answer in the way that they find most satisfactory to them. Something they can then take and mull over and no doubt use against the other person in some way. They wait until their misconceptions are validated.

Sometimes a bunch of strangers are better to ask than people who are too close or biased to provide usable ideas, clues and/or answers.

I know, the worst ones are ones like "my husband/wife said X, what does s/ he mean by that"

like SERIOUSLY get a life and just say something. I can see the point when it's people who are flirting with eachother and stuff or when it's technically about etiquette.

Because they are upset and/or confused.

We have all been there, and we pull apart and dissect and analyse the tiniest little thing, trying to make sense of it all.
