Are there any examples of climate change deniers telling the truth?

It seems to me that there are many climate change deniers who are becoming ever more desperate to convince people that there is no such thing as global warming or climate change. To this end the number of outright lies and the level of deception they resort to appears to be steadily increasing.

I also get the impression that the climate change deniers are unwilling or unable to validate their claims. There have been perhaps 100 or 200 occasions when I have requested that the deniers provide validation for some of the more dubious claims they have made. I am not aware of a single occasion when they have managed to do so.

So I was wondering, are there any examples of climate change deniers telling the truth and can they back up their claims with reliable sources (such as independent corroboration, verifiable data, empirical evidence etc)?

Are we talking about climate change or the CAUSES of it. Because the jury is defintely out on the causes. For example, why did we have the dinosaurs and hotter climate back then? Yeah, I have heard some of the ideas but mankind wasn't around to document it. Also, with Mars warming up why is that happening? Are the Martians causing it or could the sun the the cause?

You are so blind to truth! I'm over forty and grew up with the global warmers (now) was telling us the next ice age has begun. And you say the climate change deniers are lying, ha! Might want to take a good look in the mirror. Oh by the way the last ten years the temps have actually went down, not up! Lets just assume that global warming was happening like you say. Man made cooling or heating is like saying man made raining or snowing. You make it rain or snow then come back and tell us that global warming is man made! Good luck!

Source(s): Common sense number one! Two: Go research were the climate changers put there temp gauges at, over air conditioners and the like. If global warming was really happening they would not have to cheat to get the info they need.

Climate is just a issue for imposing a restriction.

There are many examples of denialists making true statements.

    "CO2 is plant food."

"CO2 lagged temperature in ice cores." (Although denialists rarely use past tense, so I guess that it is not a good example.)

    "The Sun influences climate."

    "Climate models are uncertain."

These statements are all true. However, the first two are irrelevant. They do not mean that CO2 does not absorb infrared. If anything, solar output has been trending in the wrong direction in recent decades, though it may explain why the increase in global temperatures slowed down in the last decade. Regarding climate models, yes, reality could be more rosy than predicted by climate models or it could be worse? There is a word for continuing with business as usual because models are uncertain. It is called gambling. If people want to gamble, they should take their life savings to Las Vegas, rather than gambling with the future of our planet.

Good try Ellen, but your answer about Mars is in the same article you quote:

The conventional theory is that climate changes on Mars can be explained primarily by small alterations in the planet's orbit and tilt, not by changes in the sun.

"Wobbles in the orbit of Mars are the main cause of its climate change in the current era," Oxford's Wilson explained. (Related: "Don't Blame Sun for Global Warming, Study Says" [September 13, 2006].)

I'm afraid climate Denialism has become an epidemic of misinformation ever since the early 90s when the Western Fuels Association, National Coal Association and Edison Electric Institute (ICE) decided to "change the opinions of a selected population regarding the validity of global warming. Their primary target was older, less educated males”..... this memo was the original 'climategate', except it was unambiguous and true.

Prior to that time this subject was not politically controversial, and was widely accepted amongst scientists even without the evidence we have today.

It is difficult for Deniers to tell the truth by definition, simply because there is so much evidence to support Anthropogenic Climate Change. That is why all practicing REAL climate scientists accept it, although a very small minority still believe the claims are exaggerated.

Peoples motives are probably a combination of deliberate deception for political reasons and genuine confusion because of scientific illiteracy. This is compounded by a reluctance to look up the peer reviewed literature due to its relative intractability, preferring easier to read 'conspiracy' blogs which often top the Google lists.

One genuine source which is much easier to understand yet is based on the peer reviewed literature is http://www.skepticalscience.com/ Please take the trouble to read it before forming an opinion on this important subject.

Bjørn Lomborg tends to be a truth teller. But he is not a denier. Just skeptic on the some of the adverse effects. His big push is what he believes is the best way to address and adapt to climate change.

yea they are not really denying the fact that the earths climate is changing because that has been proven but more so challenging the sources that are too blame.. like the other guy said its most likely to do with solar system and the sun getting closer to earth

Not often. Right now we have demonstrable falsehoods from

Rio "I'm still waiting for a real climatologist to visit this site." wgo can't recognise it when he sees it

ednapog: "as far as I know there isn't any sort of significant group of people that deny the planet is experiencing a warming effect" - satire falls silent

top contributor finaldx "the climate change advocates have largely relied on data from the 1920's, than when checked was using the wrong formula." Total garbage; not even the pretence of a reference to this surreal suggestion

Nosson: "there are no deniers" because the entire scientific establishment is untrustworthy

andy: "run away temperatures that were promised 15 years ago" (By whom, and when?)

Peter J: denialists tell the truth because winter is cold

The one truth they sometimes utter is that there is uncertainty. But this actually implies that we should be more concerned, not less; the best scenario is better than the most likely but the worst is much, much worse.

Um, the same could be said of the AGW crowd as more and more negative press or as the years go by and we still haven't seen the run away temperatures that were promised 15 years ago. Also, it seems like most AGW supporters only read what they want into scientific reports and ignore anything that don't further their cause. I mean, all you have to do is read the IPCC report with a critical eye and you can see the inconsistencies inherit in it.

I am old enough to have listened to global cooling, the ozone hole, and now climate change so that no matter what happens they are correct.
