Can you answer this hockey question about a bad hockey idea, and poke holes in it? (part 1)?

I am only asking this again, because it did not post yesterday.

In the world it seems that money can buy you almost anything. For the right price, you can even fly into space.

So here’s my questions: For $100,000, you as a fan could play 5 minutes of real NHL hockey. Obviously, you must know how to skate, and you would have to attend at least 3 team practices. In return, any team of your choice (depending on availability) must play you for at least 5 minutes in one game (not including playoffs or preseason). Your team could potentially earn up to $8,200,000, which they could use to bulk up their own roster, and it would NOT be calculated into the Cap or CBA. Of course, the most desirable teams will most likely have a “guest” player every night with means more money, but teams that are less desirable like Atlanta, will probably benefit from the increased stats from the lack of a “guest” player. As a fan, it would be exciting if your team’s “guest” player was actually good, and it would also be entertaining if the opposing team’s “guest” player were awful.

1) Love the idea or hate the idea?

2) What are the biggest flaws with this idea?

Disclaimer: If you do not know me, I would never really want to see the game changed, and this question is solely for research purposes.

    1) Love to idea or hate the idea?

I love it because it would be my chance to play pro; hate it because I would be killed.

    2) What are the biggest flaws with this idea?

It's not very practical. A lot of injuries and lawsuits I imagine.

  • Gary Bettman is on line two for you. He mentioned something about "Phoenix" and "solution"...whatever the hell that means.

    1) If an IHL team can put Manute Bol on the ice then why the heck not? What's the old joke? We're just arguing about the price at this point...

    2) Insurance...if the guy gets hurt you know damn well he's going to sue for a billion dollars (you know, like Ed Belfour).

Actually, money can buy anything. That soccer World Cup host nation ceremony this morning pretty much proved that one.

    Brilliant as always.

That's a hell of a fun idea. But I don't like that it only caters to the super rich.

Also, what's to stop a person for applying for his most hated team, and intentionally blowing the game with his five minutes of game time?

Furthermore, you would HAVE TO allow women to participate or be subject to sexist lawsuits, and call me crazy, but I could see some Paris Hilton type going out there and either getting murdered on the ice, or just making a mockery of the sport.

What I'd like to see instead (again, not realistic, but for fun) make it a lottery. Buy a ticket for $100 bucks and get a chance to play for five minutes. I bet at least a thousand people would do it on average, maybe more, and it wouldn't exclude anyone based on social status or income or whatever.

    1. I would LOVE to see this happen.. can you imagine all of the mid life crisis dude with hang ups about not making the highschool team or always being picked last for street hockey or the ridcule the felt about being nick named Head down hank... just getting absoltly leveled with a open ice hip check... that being said if i had the money i would probably be the one taking that hit and pissing myself infront of a sold out crowd...

Whats the biggest flaw? Most rich people that are athletic are already in pro sports you would basically be putting mort goldman in the ice for 5 min a game... http://images3.makefive.com/images/entertainment/t...

    1. Love it because IF I knew how to skate...I would love playing with my team :o) lol

    2. I would say If this "guest" Player was a pretty good skater, and knew a lot about Hockey as it was but never made it pro or did but it failed....what if he took out a star player on the opposing team? This guest player would never be back....So the other team wouldnt be able to "get him" next time I guess you could say haha.

    I like your questions, they're Fun :o)

    1) Cool idea but the average joe would just get killed by any team

    2) Injuries would be my first guess, but also I think the teams would hire players who are almost NHL caliber and find someone to pay for them.
