Easy. You see in the Roman Catoic Culture, the Priest are not allowed to have women, in that sense. They are devoded of that privalage. So they subsitute alterboys, for that. For years there has been clubs, and rings, where young men, and families have given money for there sons, to strip, or be in sexual positions.
Also sicko's enter the church looking to target the youth that is invovled. Read "Angela's ashes" for example, along with any other Irish fiction/non-ficiton to understand the strictness of Catolics.
It is both, basically.
