Where should my character be from?

I am from South Africa but i say Kenya. The reason is simple. Your character is a 6 foot tall woman and you find those in the Masai Mara Kenya. There are many Masai tribes and i suggest you google them. Kenya has more rural areas an still a whole lot of tradition. South Africa has been colonized for such a long time that it is basicallyly not an African country in the same sense, its more modern. So unless you want to have a 6 foot white Afrikaans woman - and you can find them for sure - you best go with the 6 foot Masai tribal woman.

Just one thing, it is more likely that you will find a rough and tough white Afrikaans woman that do wrestling and so on than you will find a Kenyean woman fighting, it simply is not their tradition. They are farmers looking after crops while the men take care of livestock and fighting. But i am sure you can get around this if you want too.

Hmm, Kenya. I can't really explain why, it's like a gut feeling.

i would have to disagree and say south africa... because you could make her background more interesting... thats just what i think
