Atheists do you consider yourself quite calm and balanced until you read answers on here from Christians?

I'm atheist and generally feel each to their own but so many of the Christian answerers on here make me so angry and disgust me. Do you find the religious people massively offensive in their answers, judgements and statements too?

Update:

Ryan take a breath love!

Mostly the Christians are amusing but i do get wound up being told I'm gonna burn in hell and being prayed for! I guess I have to really understand the total madness of such folk and laugh off their irrelevant and ridiculous opinions.

Yes, but the christian questions and answers usually disgust me. I find myself pitying them in their delusion.

I am an atheist and the reason I come on YA is to agitate Christians. People verbally poke them with sticks and they hiss like snakes. It amuses me that they truly believe that I am going to Hell. I also find it amusing that while they profess to have total faith in the existence of God they jump on any little hint of scientific evidence of their creator or creation. Since none exists, they make it up. There is nothing for you to get angry about. Christians are showing up to this gunfight armed with cap guns and water pistols. They fire away and when they are done, they yell, "There, I got you. You're dead! " I really like Fireball. She's slightly famous. Some answer she wrote ended up on wikipedia. She damns everybody to Hell. Don't take anything a Christian tells personally. To them, it's business not personal.

I understand what you mean. It can be quite frustrating when attempting to combat the ignorance so wantonly bandied about by the Creationist sort.

That's actually why I created my website, where I often post links to regarding such issues as the formation of the Earth and the universe, hoping that they may actually *read* them. Just five minutes ago, I heard someone repeating for the ten millionth time the absolutely aggravating misunderstanding about the universe "coming from nothing".

Still, it doesn't get to me too much. I feel my blood pressure rise a little bit when I see that sort of ignorance displayed, probably only because it happens so *often*. But I don't actually get noticeably upset about it.

I'm christian. I've been dealing with people who do not believe in religion especially christian. Apparently they are very stubborn to accept the truth. but, If I were Atheists. I will be keeping an open mind and try to find the truth. Do not be too much ego.

As a christian I was continually bothered by the inequities, and hypocrisy's in religion. Studying other religions, caused even more discomfort. Since becoming a "recovered christian", I no longer fear hell, or the wrath of an illogical god. I'm at peace, and the erroneous ramblings or ignorant, superstitious people doesn't bother me.

  • Depends on the brand of Christian. Most normal Christians like Catholics and Anglicans and so on are usually reasonable. It's the fundies and JWs that post the way-out stuff.

Quite often that's the case. If I'm asking a question they find offensive then whatever, but if it seriously annoys me when someone shows doubt in their beliefs and suddenly Christians are trying to convert them.

I try to assume that if I see a really insane answer, then it must be from a Poe.

Even when I can almost tell for sure that the person must be a true theist.

It's harder to get frustrated with insanity if you assume the insanity is part of the joke.

I'd say it's the opposite. That Christians feel nice and secure in their beliefs until a non-Christian questions their beliefs, then they get defensive.
