Question concerning Hebrews 2:16-18?

Here are the glorious verses:

"For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted."

Questions:

1) What do people (more specifically, Jehovah's Witnesses) who do not believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ do with these verses?

2) How can one NOT clearly see that Yahweh had to take on flesh in order to make atonement for our sins?

Thanks.....and be blessed in this CHRISTmas season.

If they do not believe in the Deity of Jesus to begin with why would they even believe in any birth of Jesus Christ and then for any to ask such a question, or would some even think they would believe. (Jehovahs Witnesses- cult in the making) to disbelieve the deity of Jesus would be to disbelieve in God Almighty who Sent His son in the flesh to save all men from their sin. Regardless of what scriptures say sometimes and regardless of the content of such sacred verses We must remember that many will deny the very existence of the Creator. They will take upon themselves their own self-image and worship that image instead of believe the very Word that can save them eternally.

Romans 1:25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.

So to make it quite simple here, the ones who deny the Deity of Christ is to Deny God and to deny the God of Creation would be a damnable heresy upon their very souls.

The bible says that jesus took the sacrifice he gave and presented it before God as an offering for man's sins, just like a high priest in the temple arrangement in ancient Israel Which foreshadowed what jesus would do. you might want to take a closer look at those verses and the context around them. Nowhere does it even hint at God becoming flesh, thus the reason it can't be seen "CLEARLY" like you say.

I am confused, where in this verse are you reading that it says Jesus is a deity?

To prove that faith in Jesus’ sacrifice is superior to works of Law, Paul highlights the excellency of Christianity’s Founder, his priesthood, his sacrifice, and the new covenant. (Heb. 3:1-3; 7:1-3, 22; 8:6; 9:11-14, 25, 26) This knowledge certainly must have helped Hebrew Christians to deal with the persecution that they suffered at the hands of the Jews. Paul urges his Hebrew fellow believers to “press on to maturity.”—Heb. 6:1.

    1) there is nothing in these verses that say "God became flesh"

It actually says that Jesus become the High Priest, and servant position in relation to God.

It actually says Jesus becomes brothers to humans, thus making himself equal to humans.

Where does it say that God is equal to humans?

    2) you are misquoting this verse as most people misquote

John 1: 14And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The glory Christ had prior to coming to the earth is that of the only begotten.

"Begotten past tense of "Beget" with means:

    be·got·ten or be·got; be·get·ting.

    1. (esp. of a male parent) to procreate or generate (offspring).

    2. to cause; produce.

    Notice the definition of "create"

    create

    — vb

    1. to cause to come into existence

Thus to say that Jesus begotten or Jesus is created is saying the same thing.

To understand Hebrews chapter 2 is to read what it really says and not to add meaning to it that isn't there.

Jehovah's Witnesses take this verse to mean what it says.

This verse is speaking about Jesus, The Christ.

Jesus is NOT the same person as Yahweh.

The four letters, called the Tetragrammaton, are read from right to left in Hebrew and can be represented in many modern languages as YHWH or JHVH (Greek). God's name, represented by these four consonants, appears almost 7,000 times in the original "Old Testament," or Hebrew Scriptures.

We derive the name Jehovah in English from the Greek form of the Tetragrammaton JHVH.

Jehovah is the English name for "God Almighty" .

Exodus 6:3 "And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."

Jesus did come down to earth and live as a human. But he was NOT God as your quoted verse shows that he was "tempted".

James 1:13, "Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone." So Hebrews 2:16-18 could NOT be referring to God (Jehovah) since Jehovah cannot be tempted. But,...

It also says in Heb. 4:15, "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin." This verse shows that our "high priest" (Jesus) was tempted... and therefore could not be the same as God in James 1:13 who cannot be tempted.

What is the purpose of having a "high priest"?

The High Priest is the one that offers the sacrifice to God for those he represents as priest.

"11 However, when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come to pass, through the greater and more perfect tent not made with hands, that is, not of this creation, 12 he entered, no, not with the blood of goats and of young bulls, but with his own blood, once for all time into the holy place and obtained an everlasting deliverance [for us]. 13 For if the blood of goats and of bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who have been defiled sanctifies to the extent of cleanness of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of the Christ, who through an everlasting spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works that we may render sacred service to [the] living God?......... 24 For Christ entered, not into a holy place made with hands, which is a copy of the reality, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the person of God for us."

These verses also show how Jesus as High Priest entered heaven and offered his own blood to Jehovah (Yahweh) as a sacrifice for us.

What sins? According to the bible, we were made in "Gods image, In the Image he created them!" Does God create anything imperfect? I think that if The almighty God created something, it would be perfect in every respect. If it wasn't then it supposes that God is imperfect. Food for thought, I guess.
