How do I get my parents to say yes to buying me a camera?

So I'd really like an dSLR camera. Being broke, jobless and, you know, broke. I can't afford to buy one. So I was thinking about asking for one for my birthday and Christmas. Doubling up. The only problem is that I've never actually owned a good quality camera to show my parents that I'm really serious about photography. It's something I can see myself doing in the future and I'd even minor in it in college. Anyway.

What would be the best ways to convince my parents to get me one?

They run as low as $450 and I've been doing the research. They wouldn't have to pay for classes, I'd teach myself.

I'd take pictures of my family, macro photos, "the world"

It's a positive outlet

**I've looked for a job and no one is biting. Please don't tell me to find one.

Thank you very much.

tell them how much you like to take photos and this could help you to start a new career and that will not cost them anything. meanwhile, ask them to borrow you the money of this camera and when you will be professional and taking photos you will get this money back to them (it's only to show that you are serious)

Well you should ask For that camera for Christmas and there might be discounts for it for Christmas and try to look for a lower price or check eBay, something like that. Show how you really want it and tell why you want it. You could also let them buy it and when you have as much money as what they paid give that too them.  good luck :)

I bought a first-class expensive film camera for $25 at the Salvation Army.

    The results ar astounding.

If you want something bad enough. You wouldn't rely on parents to buy you stuff like that.

tell them the faster they buy you one, the sooner you stop asking :)
