Why am I not a Top Contributor in the Standards and Testing category?
I am currently a Top Answerer in the Standards and Testing category, ranked 3rd with 841 total Best Answers in that category:

I have been fairly active in that category for the past year or so. Last week, I answered 24 questions in that category, and I was selected Best Answer for 14 of those questions; I typically contribute around 20-30 answers in that category every week, and I usually get Best Answer on well over 50% of the questions I answer. I do believe I contribute good answers, and I've had several people support my claim, thanking me for the helpfulness of my answers. That being said, I was wondering why I did not have a Top Contributor badge in that category.
The only reason I can think of is that my overall Best Answer percentage is so low (11%). That's because I've been an active Y!A user since 2006, and for the first two or three years, before becoming active in S&T, I was a P&S regular (and many people know how tough it is to maintain a high BA percentage while being so involved in P&S =P) and rarely answered questions in any other category.
I'm not on Y!A just for the points or the TC badge (obviously, since I've been very active since 2006), but I just think a TC badge would be helpful in boosting my credibility, since my BA percentage is so low and most people who ask questions in that category probably don't know why it's so low or that I'm a top answerer in the category.
So do I not have a TC badge because my overall Best Answer percentage is so low, or am I just not contributing enough?
Thanks!
nascar: I think misread my entire question details section. I AM a Top Answerer, and I HAVE been actively contributor. But while I AM a Top Answerer and an active contributor, I'm NOT a Top Contributor.
I think *you* misread [...]

As you may know YA does not publish it's criteria for top contributors. Something like 130 points/week and 25% best answers for 3 weeks in a row seems to work.
I suspect that you are right that your overall best answer percent is the issue. Again , this not not stated anywhere but the decisions seem very mechanical (meaning computerized, not personalized) and an arbitrary cut-off of over all best answer percent seems likely to me.
Good Luck, I don't know if there's anyplace to argue or get an official answer.
Enjoy!

According to Y!A : "A "Top Contributor" is a member of the Yahoo Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a certain category. Each user can be a top contributor in a maximum three categories. You earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a certain section. The more positively you contribute, the more chance there is that you will get a TC badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to give credit to community members."
Y!A has never said what the precise requirements are. It's commonly accepted that you need to answer a lot of questions (50?, 100?, who knows...) in a category and get Best Answers on a certain percent of them (probably 10-15%) each week.
You can have TC badges in up to 3 categories at a time. There is no TC badge for the Jokes & Riddles and Polls & Surveys categories.

The Basketball area. yet i'm truly drained because of fact each and every NBA offseason, the area is finished of Trolls & lil' childrens attempting to earn some acceptance via accusing all people of "cheating" and reporting just about each and every question till Yahoo starts to droop some bills. So, i'm taking a injury till the start of the season. -----------------------------------
