Why are most "unclaimed indigents" male?
These are poor people (often homeless) whose bodies aren't claimed by anyone when they die.
Recently, the county I live in had a collective funeral ceremony for all of these people who had died in the past year. Out of 205, 167 were male -- that's over 80%. Why would it be such a high proportion of men?

Men are less likely to ask for help and seem to be more withdrawn about their problems. Men are also generally more self sufficient and don't swallow their pride as easily.
A homeless woman is more likely to approach a charity and to rely on others for help. Men are more likely to go it alone and bottle things up.

Men are more likely to suffer mental illness that would put them in that position, as a result of biologically differences and the different pressures men are under.

There are a variety of reasons, but probably number one is that there are far more programs, sympathy, shelters and funds for homeless women than homeless men (per capita homeless person).

that's a good question, and I don't know the answer .
But I can guess that it's FAR easier for women to find a man to take them in than it is for a man. Men are expected to provide, women often are not.
