How do I split a MP3 audio recording into tracks?

I've got a recording of a live concert in MP3 format and I would like to put in 2 second spaces between songs so I can change tracks. I haven't got a clue how to do that.

Update:

I downloaded Audacity, but the tools do not allow me to select them in the toolbar.

You can do this from within AUDACITY

    Audacity is a free application.

Just load the song into there and choose chop, cut, split... there where you want the songs to end.

Yeah that is a real pain, but it can be done with a wav editor. Look for a free one on line if you dont already have one with your own software. Nero and creative have them in their software.

When you load the full file in the editor you can chop it into sections and save each file 5mins long.

Then you burn all the separate tracks you made in software to a disc or file using something like Nero Burning rom.

    have a look here . http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/screenshots

    and here . http://download.cnet.com/MP3-WAV-Editor/3000-2141_...
